So as I'm sure the MLP fans have noticed, ever since Derpy appeared in an episode and actually talked, a group of people have actually started a petition to either remove her entire, including her appearance in that episode, or to change her name and/or appearance to be less "offensive" -.-
I'm also sure many people that follow me know that I am a Sally supporter and try to stick up for her whenever haters come rolling around.
So the question is, how are these two even remotely connected? Well, while both of these characters may have controversy and haters for different reasons and while neither character deserves to be hated, the main issues stems from one thing...they're female.
What do I mean by this? Well let's look at Derpy first. In the show we already had a "slow" pony by the name of Snails, who has done a number of destructive things in the show, including sicking a giant killer bear onto the village. However, even though he's essentially a male version of Derpy, nobody cared about his existence to the point of raising a ruckus and wanting him removed from the show. Heck, nobody even seemed to care about Ed from Ed Edd and Eddy either, wonder why.
People said they wanted her name changed too, finding it offensive. However, they didn't even bother to research that Derpy refers to the positioning of her eyes and not to her mental abilities at all. Heck, we don't even know if she's "special" or not, or just clumsy, people simply created their own truths and ran with it.....to the point of starting a petition.
You'd think people would like the fact that a special pony is being treated as normal and living a normal life, but I guess certain people would rather try and keep special people out of shows entirely and act like it's a taboo topic...I think that says more about the people supporting this petition more then anything to do with Depry herself.
It's a show about friendship and acceptance for goodness sakes, what's wrong with people these days?
As for Sally, I've heard quite a few reasons for hating her, many of them double standard nonsense and others being entirely unfair. The easiest one to disprove is the way she dresses. Why do people follow the belief that male mobians can be naked while females have to be fully clothed? Cause they have curves? Seems kinda pointless since they have fur so you see nothing extra then what you'd see from a lady wearing a leotard...or are you saying the female body is something to be ashamed of? As far as how she's drawn in the comic, most of the time she's drawn in a chibi form and only every so often does she take a more human form. Either way, isn't that something to hate the artist for instead of Sally? Why hate her because of how someone chooses to draw her? If she was male this wouldn't even remotely be an issue to even talk about. Don't bother bringing up that it's cause the males have animal shapes while females have curves, there are plenty of male characters without clothes that have rather human looking forms, try looking up Drago for one.
Another reason people pick on Sally is how a handful of the male characters seem attracted to her. So, why is that a problem again? Exactly how many female characters are attracted to Sonic? Doesn't he have a ton of people attracted to him as well? Why must Sally be singled out for this? Let's also not forget that virtually anyone besides Sonic that liked her is currently in or was in a relationship with someone else. None of the love interests are pining for Sally and waiting in the shadows to strike, they've started their own relationships with other people.
On the same line, people hate her for the simple fact that she's trying to date Sonic, when some claim he only belongs to Amy or that Sonic shouldn't date at all. Amy didn't even exist in the SatAM show and that's what the comic is based on. This is also not the video game Sonic another one entirely, an alternate dimension if you will. Why are you trying to demand that this Sonic be stuck to the same constraints as the video games when even SEGA themselves want the video games and Archie comic to be separated entirely?
A third reason and the last I'll bring up is the Sally slap that occurred in 134, which I believe is the main reason for why so many people hate Sally in the first place and then struggled to find other reasons to hate her after. For starters, she was ridiculously out of character in that comic and the next few issues after while Bollers was the writer in charge. None of the other writers had Sally act like this so it's safe to assume that Sally wasn't herself in those issues and was acting like someone else entirely. It's quite similar to when someone writes a mini series for Marvel or DC and turns Batman into a murderous psycho or Superman into a depressed emo due to losing his powers. Do you hate them forever now because of how they acted in those few issues, or do you go based on their true personality that you know is how they really are like?
Why hate the character when it's the writer that makes them do the stupid things? Sally is a good person that has lived her life trying to bring peace and happiness to her people, that while having good points is a believable person and has her own weaknesses, how can you hate a character like that? Even after Penders and even Flynn turned Sally back to normal people continued to struggle to find reasons to hate her...I just don't get that. Don't hate the character, hate the writer that ruined the character.
Anywho, that was a long rant and grats to anyone that read the entire thing @-@; If anyone disagrees and still wants to hate either of these two awesome ladies, feel free to post a comment below and I'd be more then happy to have a civilized conversation about it. Just be sure to try and bring up actual points and reasons and not simply something like "She sucks, end of story"
Feel free to comment ^^

I may have skimmed over it, but in case you've not been following the Derpy fiasco very closely, it seems it was actually one big, gigantic misunderstanding. Hasbro apparently never planned on changing her name and the people over at WeLoveFine have started putting the name "Derpy" back on their shirts. The Last Roundup is featured on Hasbro's front page for the show, with the Derpy scene unaltered, and we apparently got a letter from a UK Hasbro guy that basically said, "We are not changing Derpy's name." So I'd say we can all relax about this whole thing. I think the entire thing was blown entirely out of proportion. Nice picture and comparison, though. I was never a big Sonic fan, so I really didn't know much about the whole Sally thing but I can see where similarities can be drawn.
I think the main reason for it is because the fandom created Derpy. Because of this, it would be awful to see something happen to her because she's somewhat of a symbol for the fandom. The whole thing was blown totally out of proportion anyway. There weren't that many people actually complaining about Derpy in the first place. Regardless, plenty of fans jumped to her defense anyway. I must admit, I had a mini-freakout too because I expected it would create a terrible backlash for Hasbro to have to deal with, thus permanently damaging the fandoms' relation with corporate and possibly the show's crew. Turns out, it was mostly unsubstantiated rumors. Best to just forget about it and have a laugh later I guess.
The only real complaint I had with that particular episode was not her being her clumsy self, but the fact her voice was just overdone just a tad. It was funny as hell regardless though. Anyone with a lick of sense should realize it's a cartoon in both cases, as well as a fictional character. SO WHAT if they're portraying some stereotype or whatever else? Just enjoy the show regardless of how stupid it may seem to you.
And female or not, anyone can have whatever personality that they've grown to have. I know a few women who break that confinement and don't give a rats ass about what anyone else thinks.

Funny thing about Derpy's voice: Tabitha St. Germain, the voice actress, didn't realize Derpy was female, so she made her sound like a boy (taking the voice of a neighbor's son for inspiration, IIRC.) The voice actresses are too busy to follow these details as closely as the fans do.
I can only assume its a matter of preference, for some people probably got on board the sonic series around the time Sonic Adventure and Sonic X was popular and associate Amy as Sonic official girl friend, and believe that Sally has no place within the official cannon, and viewer her as a degradation to the series.
Stupid people will always find something to rag about. Why? because they have nothing better to or more intelligent to complain about instead of people complaining about how a fictional character is by looks, actions, or name, they should petition about something more productive like the economy and other things in the real world.
Why must people be silly and take offense to everything they fucking see, including the long-used term "derpy?" People take offense to me passively calling people and myself "faggots" because my personal definition for the term is another form of "stupid." I don't hate gay people. Plus, isn't Derpy Shine SUPPOSED to look a little retarded? She might even be a foil for Pinky Pie in a way. Seriously though, fuck these haters. I don't get why I can't get some decent piece and quiet from the fanbase of whatever neat and cool thing I'm interested in.
Also, you wanna know why a guy like ME watches My Little Pony? It's the same reason I watch Blue's Clues. Curiosity. Curiosity that is easily fulfilled by the time the 30 minutes are over.

I'm a little disappointing with the "portrayal" of Derpy with her being this destructive force. Thought she was a letter carrier? Or was that a Brony thing? As for Sally? I think it has to do with people growly it's HER that Sonic has displayed some affection for. But I'm guessing here. Me? I like both characters. Still curious where Sally, gotten that hand held computer of hers.
As for Derpy? Meh, she's clutzish. Doesn't mean she'll level or raze a city y'know? However, it's the law of the net. Haters are gonna hate.
Kinda refreshing really, to know other furs don't hate.

What ever happened to the episode where she dropped a piano on Twilight? lol
It was pretty much assumed she was clumsy off the bat, but what's wrong with being clumsy anyhow?
As for Sally, yeah it's pretty silly to have people hate her simply because Sonic likes her...he's not allowed to be romantic?
Oh Nicole? She was actually sent from the future when Sonic and Sally are king and queen of the world at peace lol. They sent her to the past in order to help them beat Robotnik again.

I couldn't help but think she talked a tad too slowly, but yeah I thought her voice worked enough.
Although I wouldn't mind them doing her voice a second time, only this time trying a females voice for her XD
Buldumborat over at youtube spoiled us as far as Derpy voices went lol

Okay, some Brog Sceal wisdom is incoming. Here's the deal. I agree with you on the point that it is actually more offensive to remove Derpy from cannon than it is to leave her in cannon. Here's the real argument as well as why yours doesn't really hold up. You point out that it has to do with the fact she is female. I think you are a little to close to the issue to see that correctly. The comparisons you make to male characters are kind of ridiculous. Ed Edd and Eddy is not a show for five year olds for one. You can't hold that kind of show to the same standards as one designed to shape the minds of children who aren't old enough to form an educated opinion or really doubt what they see on television. As for the snails comparison, I've heard it before and it doesn't hold up. Yes snails is portrayed as dumb or slow but he is never out right shown as being incapable of connecting his actions with the consequences as Derpy is. Also, Snails has no physical signs of mental disability nor does his voice denote and kind or retardation. Derpy crosses a line that snails doesn't. I'm not saying it's a line we shouldn't be able to cross if it's handled correctly. All I'm saying is that there is a clearly defined difference between someone who is a little slow and someone who has a real disability. The argument against Derpy goes as follows. MLP FIM is a how for children of an age to young to make informed decisions and choices. Thus any actions taken by it's characters must be treated as if a child might learn from or emulate them. It is offensive that a character with a disability should be used for cheep laughs, and I do not want my child learning that it is acceptable to belittle the mentally handy-capped by calling them derogatory names like Derpy (and I'm sorry but Derpy is an insulting term like it or not).
What this does not address is how it is any less offensive to remove the mentally handy-capped from the show completely, because it's not okay for them to be represented in a children's show. That is basically the same as saying that people with disabilities shouldn't be allowed on T.V. and THAT is offensive. There is absolutely no reason why a handy-capped character should not be allowed on the show if the subject matter is handled respectfully. The real reason that such an issue has arisen, and that Hasbro has been forced to cave, is that the introduction of Ditzy Doo was handled horribly. I blame this mostly on the fact that without Lauren guiding them the season two writing team appears to have started sniffing markers and huffing paint. The character gets an appearance which amounts to little more than poorly done fan service and in that time she is shown to be incompetent, oblivious, and is treated with general disdain. Worse is that it's left that way. No one forces Rainbow to apologize or shows that Ditzy can be a valuable member of society. The message given to kids is, in essence, "all mentally disabled people are a detriment to society and it's okay to make fun of them and laugh at them because they are too stupid to notice." I'm not saying that that was the intended message. On the contrary, I suspect that they writers were simply looking to stick some incredibly unsubtle fan-service in there so they could market a Ditzy Doo toy, but what comes across to any kids that are watching is considerably less than wholesome. The appropriate way to introduce her would have been to make it an episode in which the lesson was "Just because somepony is a little different, or not so good at somethings, doesn't mean they are any less important than anypony else.", or something to that effect. In hind sight, that would have made a much better story than the steaming pile of episode we got instead. Seriously, fuck the season two writers.
As for Sally hate, no the character doesn't deserve some of the flak she gets, but the same is true of most of the, frankly, stupidly huge cast of the Sonic cannon. No, the character isn't great, but she isn't really any worse than the other poorly written side characters in the Sonic universe. Most of the hate she gets is actually borne of the fact that a good number of people feel that Sonic has too many side characters, and some real pruning of the family tree is in order, and I would tend to agree. Many of the characters are superfluous. Sally and Amy for example. I would, however, suggest that rather than out-right drop one, a better solution would be to combine the personalities into something less god awful and make them one character. It's not like it would be all that hard. Sally has all the personality of a brown cardboard box in a vest, and Amy makes my brain try to crawl out of my skull and make a break for the boarder.

I feel it important to remind everypony that while the internet can make it seem like the brony community is huge, we make up less than ten percent of the shows viewership and we are not the target audience. You have to remember that MLP has to be viewed as a show designed to shape the minds of children. It is also not being produced because Hasbro is making a lot of money of the show. It is designed to be what amounts to a twenty minute toy commercial. Hasbro has made this show to sell toys and is neither invested in it as a work of art nor interested in defending it in the event it puts their sales figures at risk. They will accommodate bronies when they can, because they want our money, not because they much care about us or the show. Frankly we don't even go close to matching the spending power of the millions of parents who's entitled little brats will demand money be spent on MLP toys, and that is in no way Hasbro's fault. Don't get angry at them for it. Just remember that they are a toy company first and foremost. For them, the most important thing is the bottom line.
Apparently the main fan base you speak of doesn't even know how to look words up too... They attacked Derpy for her name, when all derpy stands for is the eye condition she has >.> It has NOTHING to do with mental capabilities of people.
I don't blame Hasbro, I blame the whining watchers that can't even do research before they start ranting and creating petitions about stuff they don't even understand.

lol it's offensive to use a disabled character for a cheep laugh? If you haven't noticed, EVERYONE is the show is used for a cheap laugh. We've gotten cheap laughs from all of the main 6 chars, from Spike, from Snips and Snails and from a ton of the other characters as well. Why is it so different that this time it's happening to someone with derpy eyes? Sorry but that's still double standards. We can have episodes where main characters go completely insane and we get cheap laughs of over, yet we get a few moments of a character that "might" be disabled in some way fitting in with regular people and that's instantly bad?
One of Derpy's first scenes was dropping a piano on Twilight...we already knew she was very clumsy. The fan base loved that aspect of her. The writers put Derpy in to show their love to the fan base, no other reason that I can think of. It was a little wink to us that loved the show so much and they wanted to show that they know and see the world the fans' are creating as well. Plus as said before, most of the characters have proven detrimental as well. Snips and Snails almost got the town destroyed by a giant baby bear, does that mean all little boys are detrimental? The 3 pegasus boys that pick on RD and Fluttershy, do they show that all boys are jerks that mock other people? Just because someone is special it doesn't mean all they can do is stand in the corner and smile, or have to be super geniuses.
What does it tell you that all they had to do was remove her name, change her voice and un derp her eyes in a few scenes to make it acceptable now? It shows the huge double standards that it's apparently ok to have innocent fun with a normal person but if there's anything off about them at all, suddenly we have to treat them special instead of a normal part of society >.>
You...are obviously not a really big fan of Sonic to say stuff like that lol. Well sure Amy doesn't have much personality, but to say to merge characters together and make one? That's pretty disrespectful to the characters...and Sally is much better then you give her credit for...did you even read the comics?

I own all the sonic floppies up to 127. The series has some real high points it's just gone WAY out of control. Also, by your logic its perfectly acceptable to laugh at a paraplegic if they fall down and can't get up. I would laugh if a fat person did. The difference is that one is making a mistake which is funny and the other can't help themselves. It's not the same thing. Hell by your logic you could justify bloody pedophilia. I mean an adult can have sex but a child can't? that's discrimination right there. Are you a pedophile gameboysage? Welcome to the real world. Not everyone is on even ground, not everyone is born equal, and not everyone can be treated the same. Sometimes good manners and not being a dickhead to people has to win out. I am pretty sick of people confusing political correctness with just being nice. I'm not saying removing Ditzy is the right thing to do. I'm just saying that ultimately its Hasbro's fault that this came up. Also, derp is a term referring to an expression associated with idiocy or stupidity. It is not an innocent or kind name. Cock means rooster. Doesn't mean it's okay to call your boss a cock-munch. It's true, doesn't make it okay.
I'm talking about someone in the show doing something perfectly acceptable then anyone else can, within reason. She did nothing nothing wrong and was simply clumsy, that's all. Don't start throwing insults around and making up crap like bringing up sex and junk when we're talking about basic stuff here.
You do realize the "special" people that watch the show are some of the most insulted by all the people that complain about Derpy right? They WANT to be treated like normal human beings, not like special people that have to be hidden in the corner.
Nobody was being a "dickhead" as you say it when it came to Derpy. Only the watchers that made up a bunch of crap and made themselves get offended by are the ones in the wrong.
Sorry if you have to go out of your way to find things to hate in the world, but Derpy didn't deserve any of it.

Oh, and here's the responses from one of the people you're trying to protect so badly, who loves Derpy dearly for what she symbolizes to her:

I've seen them already and I don't mind telling you in many ways I agree with them. Again I don't have an issue with Derpy. Nor am I particularly interested in defending the mentally disabled. What I'm saying is that the show did a very poor job of introducing the character. What I'm saying is that if i were a parent and that was the first thing I saw on MLP, I too would be worried about what it was teaching my kids. What I'm saying is that the way the character was portrayed in the episode she first speaks is beyond clumsy. If you are brought up with an innate concept of how to control the weather, you don't jump up and down on top of storm clouds shouting "I just don't know what went wrong", unless there is something wrong with you beyond being a little slow. What I'm saying is that petitioning Derpy (while understandable) wasn't the right thing to do, but you seem ignorant as to exactly why. What I'm doing is trying to educate you, so that when you have to talk to someone who disagrees, you don't make those of us who are actually informed about the issue look like idiots by association. Remember, debate is never about being right or wrong, It's about having the best argument, and yours is weak. Also, in regards to the name, making Derpy the cannon name IS offensive. They should have used Ditzy Doo. Calling someone Derpy because their eyes are crooked is EXACTLY the same as calling someone with M.S., Gimpy, or someone with a learning disability, retard. Is that the kind of thing you say to people in the street? If it is, you are without a doubt a dickhead. It's not that the words at their essence mean anything bad, its just not nice to define someone by their differences or weaknesses.
Derpy has been in a ton of episodes, including dumping a piano or being an easter egg in many of the episodes doing lovable things.
There was actually a part of the episode cut out that explained how it all happened with the destruction and it involved jumping on the clouds, they simply took it out due to the episode running long.
If you haven't noticed, people call themselves a lot of pretty crude or rude things when around friends. Have you heard what people call themselves when around friends? I can't even repeat most of them. It's called having a sense of humor.
By the way, you do realize how most of the stuff you think would be beyond insulting to the people you want to protect too right? "Not everyone is born equal, and not everyone can be treated the same." I mean really? Sure you have some people out there who mentally can't live alone or whatever, but to bring that into a discussion about Derpy is just sad.
In short, the people most related to Derpy don't hate Derpy and instead love her with a passion. What I hate now, is when people not related to a topic start getting all huffy and angry about it when the demographic that actually represent it either shrugs it off or finds it funny and loves it. People these days really need to find their sense of humor again or I really fear for the future.

You will notice that in those episodes where Ditzy is just a clumsy easter egg character, no one complained. Those aren't the issue here. No one is or was overtly offended by those episodes. Also, I notice that while I have poked holes in all your arguments, you have yet to refute any of mine. You simply repeat that people with disabilities like Ditzy. What people would those be exactly? So far you have sited one reference. I alternatively could site an entire petition of parents who have disabled children, people who have disabled relatives, and disabled people, who all say they find it offensive. Where exactly are you drawing these conclusions from? How bout I tell you how I know that calling someone names because of their issues is not o.k. or funny. Twice a week, every Tuesday and Thursday I participate in a program called rainbow riders. My part in this program is to teach disabled children how to ride horses. All of them genuinely love the program. They form powerful attachments to the animals and they always leave feeling more confident. I ask each and every one of my students why they like riding and the answer is almost always the same. But one little boy I teach said it best. "I like riding because the horses are my friends. They're never mean to me. They don't call me names and they don't tell me I can't play with them because I'm stupid. They're nice to me. They even give me piggybacks. Other kids aren't like that. I don't like being different, and the horses don't make me feel like I am." No I don't think that we should exclude Ditzy from cannon. I also don't think we should give her a name just to laugh at her. Or use her as a blatant cruel stereotype. That's not okay either. MLP is well loved because it's characters have depth and are well rounded. If the ponies never learned or grew, If they were named Nerd, Hillbilly, Spaz, Jock, Coward, and Brat, we would be less than impressed by the show. We would find it stupid and childish not funny. So why is it o.k. and funny to to that to the Ditzy Doo character just because she's different? I don't call my friends names that make them feel like shit cause it's funny and neither should you.
you gave me your video. Here is mine. http://www.escapistmagazine.com/vid.....3-Correctitude
The whole PC thing fits into here only depending on what views you're looking at, although I see what you're at least attempting to show here.
You think that Derpy is seriously offensive, and some people are bringing up PC stuff trying to hide an offensive character behind gender, making those complainers seem like the bad guys when the character actually is offensive, in your views.
What I was trying to bring up though, is that if Derpy was a male pony I still bet there would have been no issues brought up. You brought up Snails yourself saying that it's not known what his mental abilities are. Guess what, we don't know Derpy's mental abilities either. The voice actor quite simply messed up her voice and tried to give her a male voice and this is what became of it.
Plus as I said, Derpy was a name created by the fans, and the creators of the show wanted to give a tip of the hat to us to show that they care about us. It's a pity some people think they need to insert their opinion into stuff that's still relatively harmless.
I don't get how the name Ditzy is any better then Derpy really either, if we want to talk about that too. Derpy simply describes the eyes and nothing else and it was a name created lovingly by the fans. It's not our fault, or Hasbro's fault that people have to turn things offensive all on their own.

She's mostly called that cause that's the name the fan base gave her lol. The show later hinted to her name being Ditzy, but that one isn't official yet I don't think.
It's just a pity that a show that preaches tolerance and understanding can't even allow a supposed special pony in it. Or if it can have one in there, all she can do is stand in the corner and not even get to say anything -.-
As for the refuting arguments go, I don't think we'll find a common ground on this stuff lol. We don't even know if Derpy is "special" or not and all we know is she has derp eyes, yet people are claiming she's disabled and getting offended because of it. It's almost as bad as the people that hate the show because they claim Rainbow Dash is a lesbian stereotype. How can we argue about this stuff, when you can't even truly prove that she's actually disabled or not, or just clumsy with a simple eye condition?
As for Derpy's voice though...the voice actor doing her voice thought she was doing the voice for a boy lol, hence why Derpy sounds so off in the original episode. I actually like her new voice, but I don't think the other changes were necessary.

Now see a lot of this I can get behind. Though I would say that it's pretty clear that the writers intend her to be special. Not quite the same as the Rainbow Dash thing, which I still hold is some of the funniest news in ages. I guess I also feel someone has to stand up and point out that the people who started this petition aren't wrong. Yes its sad that it was decided that such extreme changes were necessary for the character, but changes did have to be made. Hasbro did not do this right. These people who started this petition aren't some faceless horde of housewives with nothing better to do than lead a war of political correctness. These people are the mothers, and fathers, and sisters, and brothers of those with disabilities. People who have to sacrifice so much of their time and money just to make sure their family member receives the help they need to get through life. These are selfless hard working people. Then they turn on the T.V. and see a show about tolerance and understanding meant to educate CHILDREN (and that's an important point here. I'll happily concede that inappropriate humor has its place, and if you want it on family guy or south park or some other show meant for adults that's fine. Telling kids it's okay to make fun of the disabled? even if the disability is just being cockeyed? NOT OK.) making fun of those people they are trying to guide and nurture. Treating them like jokes. Can you really say you wouldn't be pissed off to?
If I turned to the special kid and instead of them being angry or embarrassed about Derpy, but instead they loved her and the fact that she was being treated as a normal part of society, then I can't really say I'd be angry about it. When you're treated as an outcast or as someone to be treated specially, all you really want is to simply belong.
I think these people missed the very lesson and teaching of the show personally.

I think the NAME Derpy is offensive. I'm actually one hundred percent behind the concept of a disabled character being a speaking member of the cast. As for the snail comparison I didn't say we don't know his mental abilities. They are pretty clearly defined. Snails is characterized as gullible and dumb. He is slow to take note of things and come to conclusions. That said he does come to them. There is a clear ability to connect action to consequence. Like I keep saying. The problem isn't the concept of the ditzy character, it's how she was introduced as a speaking member of the cast. Yes the voice was bad alone, but combine it with cross eyes and behavior that denotes an inability to recognize patterns and you have a well characterized disabled pony. The issue is that that's all she is. The writers put her there and say "hahaha laugh at her because she's stupid and cross-eyed and has a weird voice." I guess the problem is that as far as I can see, if you take her as being disabled (which is a very reasonable assumption), she doesn't actually do anything funny. You just laugh at her because of her eyes and voice. Ya gotta admit that just plain isn't acceptable. If someone with cross-eyed walked past you on the street and you laughed at him/her because of it you would be a jerk. this is the same thing.
To the fans they saw it as "OMG they put Derpy into the show and gave her our name! And she's lovably clumsy as well, you guys rock Hasbro!"
The point for this episode was that she's lovable and clumsy, anything to do with mental disabilities or anything else along those lines were added by the complainers that created that petition in the first place.

The lesson is that inference is not inherently wrong. You cant reasonably say that the protesters have made up that Ditzy has a disability. When you combine cockeyed, with odd voiced with the displayed intellect of a root vegetable, no, it doesn't HAVE to mean the person is disabled, but 99% of the time it does. For example. When I tell you your arguments are retarded, I could mean that you are just slow to respond, but it's far more likely I think your an idiot. And before you bring it up again, the voice actor for Ditzy may have thought the character was male but the people in charge of recording and editing most certainly didn't. The voice was no accident.
I like how you fit an insult to me in there regardless of which way I take it XP Plus you'd be amazed how easily things slip through during production. The show is famous for having a lot of flubs and mistakes pass inspection. The Derpy scene was done last second if I remember correctly.
Kind of amazed you work with kids when you're so easy to throw insults around and stuff.

Not smart enough...wow it's amazing how far you're willing to go to try and turn this into a shouting war.
I just feel sorry for people like Buldumborat who will never get the truly normal life they want due to people like you, thinking anyone even remotely special needs to be protected even against their own wishes.

All they want is to live a normal life like Derpy, but people like you prove that they can never be seen as normal and can only be treated as objects to be kept safe in the corner. Sure, you might treat them well but you'll never allow them to simply be treated like normal human beings.
This was made around Feb this year. So I guess I could still say something.
Basicly look up the Wiki for Penn and Teller Bullshit. The things that people do is just crazy. That's basicly it in a nut shell. Human nature is to think how ever you want to. Likes and dislikes are to each own and so are common thoughts.
That's it bottom line.

Dislikes are to each their own sure, but then you got people going out of their way to get Derpy removed from the show or edited virtually out of it, all cause they didn't do their research on half the stuff they were complaining about.
It's one thing to not like the character, but it's another to alter an entire show based on it.

You didn't check the wiki.
People argued that plants which would grow more and are stronger are toxin to our body's. They stopped a shipment of these goods to worlds that needed these foods. I'm talking about simple plant breading like that old pea test you heard about in school.
The idea of teaching the bible and Evolutionary line of humans and animals.
Bottle water is so much better than tap.
Wal-mart leads to nothing but pain and suffering for the area around it.
Exorcism, ESP, Talking to the dead, Conspiracy Theories, Alien Abductions, FURRYS, BRONYS, and Straight, Bi, gay.
Here it is bottom line. You want a argument, then your gonna say I don't want an argument so let's go down THIS path.
People....think differently and there are a few out of the billion that will always think their way. Think of a person like Hitler. Your trying to talk Hitler out of it.
In the long path of simple answers, some people don't care for facts, they just want to be right. They don't care. A GOVERMENT court didn't bring any physical evidence that a video game was gory, bloody and full of rape and slammed down there full power saying it was. That was Night Trap and it's more of Slow Time Events and using Home alone traps. The weapon that kills the girls is a collar that must be put on. And they are dragged away out of sight. The rape never happened and it just happened at a girls sleep over.
Bottom line, clear as crystal. The hating is there because the human brain can think it and the human personality will continue to hate it. You could fix some peoples view points but others will stay strong unless its heavily by better stronger more importantly people said to be okay. Oh...and a few few few would still hate it.

Imagine starting with Amy then turning her into a base.
Then give her two huge eyes, a hairstyle that barley looks like one Sally would have, no cheek fluff, and a fluffy tail.
Give her a clothed vest, black pants, boots and gloves, and there you go.
She's got noodle limbs and a big round head.....pretty much a super generic looking SEGA character really.

Flynn himself said SatAM was dead and that the characters were just old cliches that needed to be updated to "survive" in Sonic's new generation of games.
You know, the games that only got good again after embracing their roots and going back to the good old days, and all the characters that look EXACTLY the same as they did from virtually when they first came out lol.

Meh after the last year of the comic, mixed with SEGA mandates ruining everything, and the comic turning into a soulless cash cow, I've decided to just abandon the Sonic franchise entirely and move on with my life lol.
The comic has nowhere to go but down and the current fans are eating the crap all up, hailing it as genius. I just don't fit in that fan base anymore, after 20 years.
If you wanna do a petition though, go ahead XD

Heh yeah, I always views the comic and characters as vastly superior to the games in most ways and hate that it was forced to confirm to the generic and discriminatory views of the outdated and generic games.
I don't get the idea of following the games more when even SEGA is losing faith in their core game and allowed Boom to exist to try something different. They should have just turned the comic into a game if they wanted to try something honestly good for once, story wise.

Tell me about it....I would have loved a game based on the original comic. Even if they made one now based on the new SEGA world, it would still defeat a lot of the purpose due to how generic it is now.
I love how they feared the franchise was going downhill fast enough to allow for Boom to be created to put a new spin on the franchise....yet then forced the 20+ year old comic to conform a lot closer to that old fashioned cliche game franchise...

Why aren't Snips and Snails viewed as offensive? How is how they act much more different from Derpy? Why wasn't Ed from Ed Edd and Eddy ever called out for being offensive?
It's not even known if she has a disability or not, it's something people pegged on to her cause of her eyes. It's as bad as haters hating in Rainbow Dash claiming she's an offensive lesbian stereotype.
You probably don't know either but Derpy is probably one of the most beloved chars from the shiw because people consider her an inspiration, someone different yet trying her hardest. She certainly has a ton of merchandise out revolving around her and she's barely even a side character.
The sad part is the fans in general love her and don't mock her at all but the censorship crazed people of this world can't see that and only look at what they perceive to be the truth.

It's more like obviously you don't know the story of how Derpy was voice acted in the show.
The person that did the voice for Derpy thought Derpy was a boy and tried imitating the voice of a boy that lives in her neighborhood. There was absolutely no ill intention whatsoever, random people watching simply made that assumption. When it comes to extras or side characters the voice actors aren't really told the background of the characters, they'll just be told "do a drill instructors voice" or "do a silly whacky voice" usually without knowing much else. It's also why she was given more of a female voice when they redubbed her, cause the voice actor was given better instructions that time. I agree they made a mistake with her original voice but it shouldn't have labeled her as mentally disabled.
Of course people like you assumed Derpy was mentally disabled off the bat and thought the show was mocking her, rather then her just being a silly and clumsy person with different eyes. People also seem to ignore the fact that Rainbow Dash is an in your face kind of person and decided to treat Derpy completely normally like how she'd treat anybody else, instead of treating her special or different. People assumed she was being mocked or made fun of....but in truth she was just being treated like any other person instead of a special case to be sheltered or kept in the corner.
It's because of these false accusations and misplaced hate that the show was censored to remove her name and make her no longer talk anymore. I'm just glad the creators eventually realized how most of the Derpy hate was misplaced and put her back into the show as a background character, even if she's apparently not allowed to talk anymore.
Heck, the haters didn't even bother to do their research and learn that the name Derpy only has to do with her eye condition and has nothing to do with her mental condition. They just assumed it was a way at mocking her mental disability....the one that isn't even officially known or ever even mentioned and might not even be true.

I have that comic were she slapped sonic. With every thing she had.Laving sonic stunned for a bit and hurt.Sonic fought his way home back to earth.I understand she thought him dead. The one thing was sssing bunny get married.I never really hated sally it just some times.I saw her as being hard on sonic.I never wanted her axed off.I was at a convention and asked a artist on sonic archie comcs.I asked with all that layzers being fired. She never seems to get hit.He looked at me and said"You should pick up the next issue"This was when she was turned int a bot.Another thing I read there was one man. That caused the end of the sonic comic. There is a fan art of sally sees sitting in a chair. And looking right at us.She says"It seems some of you do not like me.Even calling for my death. Can we talk here and maybe come to an understanding."She does not look mad but not happy ether.
