I personally like this one a lot more than the first one. D: I took my time on it quite a bit, especially for the shading. >3< I am happy with this~

Well, after studying the gums, I can imagine two reasons why they might look that way to you. 1: Humans (and probably a fair share of animals) don't have those kinds of gaps between teeth, so visible gumline between teeth might have the effect of making the gums look puffy. 2: There is a lot of shading, and even dark outlines as far as I can tell, between the roots of the teeth. Maybe if you emphasize those dark areas a little less it would look less inflamed?
I'm just trying to help you find ways to experiment should you draw this subject matter again.
