Here's a pic of Toofs the Saber snuggling wiff a young Zoe on the rug at FC 2012. What started out as a short hug ended up lasting about 10 minutes when Zoe settled down next to the fuzzy saber and snuggled in. Zoe is no stranger to fur, wiff furry parents, so this probably just felt like home. Also, as Toofs is a pediatric specialist, and a breeder too, so snuggling wiff younguns felt right to the sabercat too.

That's awesome ICU. Believe it or not, but your cuddle partner spent two months in NICU immediately after birth. She was the only postee surrounded with premie neighbors. Had a NG feeding tube for those two months as well. Wouldn't guess it would ya xp.

Ya the NICU is a strange world unto itself. I got so use to CC, ML and other measurements I hadn't used in ages. Then there's all the medical lingo and the well inside humor. NICU is a very much a time commitment. I would hear the nurses talk about how little time they got off from work. Some of Zoe's best nurses were male to, which surprised me honestly. I was surprised though how close minded many of the neo-natologist were and how much was kept from us though. Anywho, no more of me polluting your piccy with medical related replies xp.
The nurses in every nicu I have worked in have been awesome, really really awesome. Among the most dedicated nurses anywhere, male or female. The docs vary, but there is a good fraction who just love the kids and families and are really open to anything that helps the kids get better faster. It was the hours that killed me, sometimes not going home for days. I miss the excitement and helping kids go home, but I am personally much happier out of there because an environment like that just burns you out. No regrets though... loved being a NICU doc. It is one of the few areas of medicine where you really have to think all of the time about the whole person, and how each system interrelates, AND you get to work with families and get to know them well.
