As some of you regular visitors to my site may recall - during the last 'sweeps month' (in November, 2011) - I was posting some of the imagery of Hungarian-born artist (and fellow Scrabble Club 276 member) Lya Korda, who passed away last year.
During a 'remembrance party' (held in December, 2001 in Pompano Beach, Florida), guests were invited to take home samples of her artwork. I'd selected a number of back issues of "Brow-Beat" - the MENSA journal for Broward County - which Lya drew the cover art for, going all the way back to the early 1990s. So, during portions of this latest 'sweeps month' (February, 2012), I'll be presenting more of her talents in anthropomorphics.
No doubt, many of you must've seen variations of the same cartoon with a frog and a crane, and how the ambitious amphibian managed to keep the famished avian from eating him - by grabbing the bird by the throat. Well, Lya did her own version of this classic gag - which adorned the cover of the November, 1993 issue of "Brow-Beat". Check it out...
