Here's Phoenix on her first time going outside the center.
She seems way happy to not be hooded like she was as a falconry bird.
They told us she never liked the hood and when we have her perched or on glove there is nothing more than looks of nervous curiosity.
She need her beak trimmed but we're giving her some time to settle in first, she's still in quarantine away from resident birds.
No, I don't want to guess what's on my shirt. It's not something pretty I'm sure.
I was cleaning carpets from the indoor mews. o.o

Our birds tend to do just fine without hoods (since we educate we want everyone to see the birds face) but when you take a bird who's been hooded the first 18 years of their life they may have problems adjusting to being around people without a hood.
Her mother took a few months to come around as did our Prairie Falcon (both died of old age in the past year and a half).
She is a lot quicker at being ok without the hood which is awesome.

i mostly dealt with ravens crows and owls personaly i seemed to have an affinity with them
soem were is a picture of me at the rescue centers computer with a ravenon each shoulder on on the old crt monitor and one in lap whos preening my beard

we used lucky sleepy and dopey as out education birds Lucky was so named cause she arrived to us as a baby who was attacked by a bob cat and she was veery lucky to be alive shes still there andealthy and happy but very tame. she would unzip my hoody crawl into it and zip it back up with her head sticking out.

She was a falconry bird so she's underweight (we consider wild birds who come in that skinny emaciated) and since she was a breeder how she looked wasn't an issue apparently.
We'll have her in shape in no time.
