It was another wonderful morning at Fallen Grove Elementary School. All of the cubs had been dropped off for school and had taken to their seats by the time the teacher walked into the classroom.
The room was wide and made with plush carpet with a jigsaw puzzle pattern featuring red, blue, and yellow colors. The walls were painted blue and covered with many posters and pictures created by the cubs. Many cubs were sitting at their desks but one was empty which brought curiosity in the class.
"Is there a new student?" One bear cub said.
"Oh, I hope he'll be fun! I love meeting new people!" A tiger cub said.
However, the most curious of them all was a duck hybrid who sat next to the empty desk, adjusting his glasses as he gazed over the unoccupied seat before his attention returned to the teacher as she addressed the class.
"Class,” she began. “Would you like to meet a new student today?
The class looked curiously about in search of the new student, which prompted the teacher to continue.
“He just moved into town not too long ago, so please be nice and welcome him here!" she stated as she turned towards the doorway.
Footsteps could be heard as the new student finally arrived. It was an odd creature, it had curvy ears, yellow cheek spots and what looked like a lightning bolt on his tail! The class started to whisper among each other.
"Eww, he looks weird!" One girl whispered.
"He looks kinda neat, but I wonder why his tail is like that!" A boy murmured.
"This is Renris!” welcomed the teacher. “Everyone say hello to Renris!"
"Hi, Renris!" The students called out, which caused him to blush as he nervously rubbed at the back of his head.
"Um... Hiya!" He replied before slowly going to his desk and sitting with a light, crinkling noise next to the duck who cheerfully smiles at him.
"Hi! I'm Yosh-E-O!" He said in a cheerful tone.
Renris blinked. Like him, this kid appeared quite different from the rest of the class. This made him feel more comfortable as he smiled and replied. "Hiya! I'm Renris but... um... you can call me Ren!"
"Kazootles! Likewise Ren!" Yosh-E-O takes note of the wrench on Ren's shirt. "Oh, that's a neat shirt. You like tools?"
Renris blushed. "I like building things a lot! I sorta dream of being a big inventor someday!"
"Wow!” awed Yosh-E-O. “That's a really big dream and that means you must be really smart!"
"I... dunno about smart… I guess?" Renris giggled before feeling his ears catch wind of the teacher’s voice calling out.
"Okay class!” she began to say. “Today we're going to learn about sharing and working together. The person next to you will be your partner for today!"
Renris looked over to Yosh-E-O. "Well, I guess we gotta team up! I... err... hope you don't mind…"
"Of course! I think it will be really fun!" Yosh-E-O said happily as the class stood up and wandered off to different parts of the room.
Renris tilted his head as he thought about what to do with his new friend and partner. "Oh! I know." He grinned widely. "Want to see how Raichu greet?"
Yosh-E-O tilted his head to Renris. "Raichu? What's a Raichu?"
Renris blushed at the question as he bashfully rubbed at the back of his head.
"Um..” he began to explain. “We're kinda like mice that can make electricity from our cheeks. Watch!"
Yosh-E-O stared at Renris in amazement as his cheeks began to crackle with electricity.
"Wow!” awed Yosh-E-O. “That's really neat and handy too!"
"I guess so!" Renris giggled as he moved to press his cheek spot against his friend's cheek. "But Raichus greet like this!"
With an eager smile, Renris sparks up against Yosh-E-O.
"Eeeek! GABOO!" Yosh-E-O cried out with a leap as his body surged with an odd, tingly feeling.
“Oof!” he quacked as he fell on his tush with a crinkle.
Renris gasped. "Oh, no! Are you okay?! I'm sorry! I'm so sorry!"
"Erp... I think I wet myself..." Yosh-E-O pouted as he looked up to the Raichu.
. "Um...” Renris frowned. “Oh! Lemme help!"
He felt bad about what happened, but knew he could make it better by being a good friend. So, he reached out his paw to help his friend up.
"I gotta make up for scaring ya!" he proclaimed apologetically.
Yosh-E-O shook his head as he took Ren's paw to stand back. "N-No its okay. You don't have too."
"I want to..." Renris smiled as he grabbed his backpack and pulled his new friend along with him. "Um... Ms. Gaden! Can me and Yosh go to the bathroom?"
"Sure,” she replied. “But hurry back!"
Renris nodded quickly as he led Yosh-E-O along to the boys’ room. Thankfully the bathroom had changing tables that folded out in the wall.
Once they arrived, he let go of Yosh-E-O's hand to unfold the table, patting the seat of it as he dug around in his backpack.
"I'll change ya,” he said enthusiastically. “I know how to do it!"
Yosh-E-O blushed, but was amazed that Renris know how to without messing up!
"Really?” awed Yosh-E-O as he hopped onto the changing table and lied down.. “Wow! You are smart!"
Renris giggled, pulling out a clean diaper, which had lightning bolt prints on it, as well as other supplies.
"Naw... I don't think so." He said as he reaches for his friend's shorts, tugging them down and revealing the wet diaper which had a faded duck on the front. He reached over to un-tape the diaper before wiping his friend clean.
Yosh-E-O giggled and shivered to the wipe.
"Kazootles!"
Renris removed the wet diaper and tossed it in the bin before slipping the clean one under him new friend’s rump. He then used the powder carefully, but not too much powder, prior to folding the diaper up and taping it shut.
"Ta-dah!” he said proudly as he smiled brightly. “All done!"
Yosh-E-O smiled happily and hopped down.
"Hey!” he said while enjoying the perfect fit of the Raichu’s diapering job. “Thanks Ren!"
"Hey, we're partners, right?" giggled Renris with a huge smile as he bumped his diaper against his friend’s to cause a crinkling. He then grabbed Yosh-E-O's shorts and helped his pal back into them.
"No not partners, friends!” Yosh-E-O said with a smile. “You always have friends around you no matter what Ren, new or not!"
Renris looked down for a moment.
"I... do?” He said as he smiles warmly and put his arm across Yosh-E-O's shoulder. “Yeah... I... I do! Th-Thanks..."
"Of course!” cried Yosh-E-O as he put his arm around his new friend’s shoulder. “Gabby-Gaboo true!"
The two then smiled warmly at one another as they left the bathroom.
"Hey I got an idea... is there any model toys in the class?" Renris suddenly asked as they returned to the class room.
Yosh-E-O tipped his head in thought before an idea came to mind.
"Kazootles! Yes! This way!"
He lead Ren towards the toys before removing his arm from around him. He then dug around until he pulled out the box for a model robot toy.
"Here!"
Renris smiled as he opened the box and dumped the parts out to the floor. He the quickly runs off to get some glue and paints before returning.
"Okay! I build while you read the instructions... after that we paint robot together!"
Yoshi-E-O gave an excited smile to the idea as he grabbed the instructions.
"Okay! Let the power of teamwork push us through!" He shouted happily.
Yosh-E-O read the chart slowly, fixing his glasses now and then as Ren glued the pieces together. Once Renris was done, the two took some paints and started to work on the bot carefully, Ren working on the back of the bot while Yosh-E-O worked on the front. Now and then the two would giggle at each other from seeing some pain on their faces from the work. Finally, once all the work was done, Renris and Yosh-E-O took the robot to the teacher with happy smiles.
"Look what we made!" Renris cheered.
"We really worked hard on it too!” Yosh-E-O added gleefully. “Ren is a great partner!"
Renris smiled happily. "And I had an awesome partner too!"
The teacher looked over the made model proudly as she stated, "I think you two make an amazing team! You both deserve an A!"
Renris and Yosh-E-O looked at each other with a smile, giving each other a high-five, a new friend made through the power of teamwork.

Actually, Yosh exists between the age of 0 to 25. So, at anytime, Yosh can be anywhere he needs to be to have a gabby-ga-good time.
One of these days, I will try to see what I can do about having fun with you and Tavi. Drawing a chippy-munk seems hard and a skunk even harder. *Reaches into his vest pocket and pulls out a pen and pad* But I'll give it my bestest best shot in either art or word!
