Just this week I got the insane urge to finish Dot Hack..... Outbreak's end boss was a nightmare (after spending half an hour re-learning how to play before i resumed) and I have to go find a copy of Quarantine to start.... I HAVE, however, started the GU series (thank god I have them all) and it was pretty entertaining. Different but not terminally and unplayably different.
Gungrave and Overdose are simply 'twitch' games. Shoot and shoot and shoot and shoot some more. There's an interesting storyline but gameplay wise you aren't missing much. They're a good, mindless, blow-off-steam game. But it's pretty well keep freaking shooting. Overdose was the same way except you get 2 more characters to choose from and once again shoot the hell out of everything. The biggest difference is that Gungrave 2 looks like its graphics were made for the original Playstation which is weird because the first game was pretty and brightly cel-shaded and fluid. Overdose' graphics look precisely like that. The game itself had some kind of narcotic overdose and now it's haggard and looks like crap. The only reason to give 2 a chance is to get more of the storyline, and the stories of the other two characters which ARE fairly amusing and unusual in their entertainment capacities.
The World Ends With You is weird. But good weird. Quirky, kinda charming, cute, and housebroken. Like a puppy with high functioning brain damage, strangely endearing and I didn't want to give it to anyone else because I liked it. One you definitely need to give a fair try, that's all I can say about it.
Samurai Legend Musashi is tough, but Square (~rimshot~) and worth playing. Pretty and fun. Combat intensive tho and the boss fights are a bear.
I played an hour of FF-12 and haven't touched it since. I probably oughtta..... Don't have 13.
I won't play X-2 on principle.
Radiata Stories was great.... til I got to the last boss. I think I have to recycle my characters up to level 1,000,000 to put up a decent resistance. But then again I read somewhere that that particular kind of play (recycle and revamp better and better) are what this studio and series are known for. So....... meh... poo. But I DID greatly enjoy it, it was funny and highly entertaining and otherwise genuinely fun to play.
Blue Dragon is hardcore fun. That's all I have to say about it.
Odin Sphere was poo to me and I didn't have high hopes for Grim Grimoire so I just passed on it.
The games I didn't comment on are ones I just don't have..... But I could never ever get rid of any of my old games, especially not ones I've yet to finish. I AM starting to go back and do it tho. :D
<3<3<3 I was crying constantly through the last 3 or 4 episodes the first time I saw it, still one of my all time favorite shows.
The game changes things up quite a bit near the end (well I suppose technically the show did), but the final moment of the game is something that I will remember forever. Unfortunately Overdose doesn't quite hold up with its plot, but the mechanics are improved. If you play through the first one and enjoy it at all it's worth checking out.
But yeah throw it in some evening, it won't take you more than 2 sittings to complete. I went all the way through Daykens copy in a few hours when he came to visit years ago :P
