Well with this type of speed paint, I kinda do like a really super rough sketch, then I go in and do a cleaner sketch on top, not exactly line art but more detailed. Then I lay colors down above that, set to something like multiply. After that I merge everything and sorta paint it all together; so lines aren't really used.
It's hard to explain--I think it's something you'd have to watch to fully get. ;O;
