I finally got around to commissioning some more artwork! Yay!

and wow has she done a fantastic job with it.
So basically swimming is the only form of exercise I really enjoy and I wanted to have a motivational poster on my computer to get me swimming more. This is the result!
I love the details Mei's added like the ripples in the water. And frankly work done on the columns is way greater than I ever expected. So I'm really happy with the results, as you can imagine.
I also love how she's done the text on the lower left. The lettering is based off Gorillaz "Plastic Beach" logo. It was an idea I had halfway through the commissioning process and Mei did a great job incorporating it, she's really good like that.
The background is meant to be the colonnade alongside the Hearst Castle "Neptune Pool". I figure that since I'm not bound by reality, I might as well set the work in the most awesome location possible. And frankly I can't think of a more awesome pool. Hearst Castle itself is pretty nuts, it shows what you can do with nearly unlimited money. It has the products of some crazy thought processes like: "I like this 13th century manuscript, let's make lampshades from it." And: "I like this wooden 15th century church roof, I'll ship it to California and use it as the roof of one of my guest rooms." Of course it also served as the inspiration of "Zanadu" in "Citizen Kane". That fantastic opening montage in the movie where you go through the grounds seeing all the exotic animals is based on fact. Hearst had a zoo on the grounds and you drive past the concrete enclosures on the bus trip to the castle.
Alright, I think I've rambled on enough now.
See you next time!

Oh yeah, the background is based upon the pool at Hearst Castle, which is definitely something I would try to re-create for myself if I had unlimited money :P
