This is pretty much the only art i'v done so far ^^ if you would even call it art. I modded my xbox 360 controller with leds
Clear analog sticks with blue LED glow
X Y B A buttons glow their respective colors
player status ring (usually green) now blue
Xbox home button now glows green through the x
In scraps is the controller with the lights on~

xD i guess since i made this, it looks like i know what i'm doing
really, this was my first electrical mod so i don't really know the wattage.
As for where i got them- this one site for xbox controller mods gave something like a kit for the buttons.
as for the analog sticks, i found clear sticks on ebay as well as a 100 blue LED pack for like $5
I drilled holes in the side of the analog sticks frame on the interior and stuck them in (but not actually in because it gets in the way of the stick when you move it around, so only the tip would shine in)
the rest of the LED installation required drilling out buttons and soldering things together and hot glueing LEDs into the button frames. At one point i had to desolder the player status ring LEDS and resolder in blue ones. The ground wires and the power wires were soldered respectively to their own 2 main wires wich i hooked up to the power on the controller motherboard, and the ground on a transistor unit that i created. Most of that i needed the tutorial to guide me through though. Basically i just did a lot of research before i started. i also practiced on some things first. but i would reccommend doing a lot of research too because theres many things you have to watch out for (like where to solder on the motherboard, what to watch out for, how much glue to level after hollowing [drilling] out the buttons).
