This will be art-inside-art for my next comic. This image will be in a billboard advertising a Jumport.

A Jumport is basically a place that sells wormholes. Since not all spaceships are equipped with faster-than-light engines, some of the slower ships need to go to one of these stations which provide shortcuts to distant points in space.

In my comic Universe there are several of these stations all across the civilized part of the galaxy. That’s why this one is announced as being number 23.

I’m still not sure if the Jumports will only open wormholes to another jumport, creating a closed network. Or if a Jumport can just propel you to a distant point in space even if there is not a facility to receive you at the end. That particular detail is not part of the plot at the moment, but I need to work on it. I know the idea is not new, of course. In “Stargate” the network is a closed one, since they can only travel to a planet where there is already a gate.

Anyone sci-fi fans interested in disusing their ideas on this hypothetical technology is welcome to do so!

I made two versions of the billboard, one with the lines (which are supposed to represent the wormhole) in white and the other in yellow. I like both and I’m undecided which one I will finally put in the comic. What do you think?
