This tractor dates in the first decade of 1900.
It is rated at 110 horsepower, weighs 19 tons and stands 17' 8" inches tall.
Unlike the majority of steam tractors a Best has a vertical boiler. This makes it easier to negotiate steep inclines because you don't have to worry about the boiler water level quite so much as a horizontal boiler.
In 1925, Best Tractor Company and the Holt Manufacturing Company merged to form Caterpillar.

I like how they have all the weight on the lower end of the frame, keeping it less prone to tipping. and the giant biult in water tank helps too. instead of dragging a water tender behind. I also like the pointer for direction indication. Instead of doing the steering dance as your rolling.
