This tractor dates in the first decade of 1900.

It is rated at 110 horsepower, weighs 19 tons and stands 17' 8" inches tall.

Unlike the majority of steam tractors a Best has a vertical boiler. This makes it easier to negotiate steep inclines because you don't have to worry about the boiler water level quite so much as a horizontal boiler.

In 1925, Best Tractor Company and the Holt Manufacturing Company merged to form Caterpillar.
