My second character the the 4E DragonMech campaign I am in. My GM swears Im allergic to 'normal' characters. The group needed a character to replace the tank (player moved away) so Garmak was born. What could be more fun than mixing a delusional paladin with a besarker? The 4E Fury Blackguard is just all sorts of awesome and stick him in a suit of steam powered armor...
Garmak is your average warg, just with a few more IQ points. His idea of fun used to be raiding gnome villages (they scream and make such wonderful snacks), attacking trading caravans, and generally being a menace. He was even smart enough to realize that he didnt have to do anything, people would pay him to leave them alone. Unfortunately, everything changed with lunar creatures started invading and everyone started building large mechs; a big nasty wolf no longer even rated a second though and could be easily crushed.
It might have ended badly with him being eaten by a lunar dragon but an odd device fell from the sky and struck the dragon dead. He had been menacing some villagers before the dragon showed up, and the quick thinking blacksmith convinced Garmak that a standard techno-magical sword attached to an everburning steam boiler were divine implements. With the other villagers chiming in about him being a chosen divine champion, chivalry, and throngs of adoring people showing him with gifts for saving them; He decided this whole 'good' thing might be worth following.
He tries hard, but valor, virtue, and chivalry are not concepts he really understands. With only bardic tales and the stories in books, he goes through the motions but does not understand why everyone is so scared of him; granted hes like a raging bersarker at a noble's ball. He still also likes the taste of gnome, though he now goes for licking them instead of eating them; they ended up crafting his steam armor so that he would start crusading for good somewhere else.
Garmak also has created a whole background religion concerning his 'gifts' from a Celestial SteamPot and is trying to spread the message about this new deity. For something created by a warg, its surprisingly benign and he is charismatic enough that he is gaining followers from the engineers that work on steam mecha. The odd thing is that the boiler and sword have started to radiate weak divine magic and a few clerics of the religion have emerged. No one is yet sure but it seems like the combined belief is giving birth to a new deity.
Another commission that Leucrotta www.furaffinity.com/user/leucrotta did for me. Frankly, its an absolutely bizarre character concept and he made it look awesome. Absolutely love the bulk of the armor and the almost jet engine look of the steam plant.
