I just got a Nokia N9 smartphone, which is sexy as all hell, and from that I discovered Pokens (http://www.poken.com)
Now, Pokens are basically NFC business cards that you can use to share your contact information, and it works by touching one Poken's hand to another Poken's hand. They call this High Four'ing on the website, and it only takes seconds to share not only business cards, but also other things like files, coupons, and other things from places that support Poken. Each Poken can collect 64 High Fours at a time, and to transfer them off the Poken you just plug it into a USB port of a computer.
Seeing as the Nokia N9 has NFC support built in, and a native app for Poken, I've made myself a Poken and two business cards with which to exchange with folks: a personal one with my nickname (Sentama Lin), Internet contacts, XBOX 360 Gamer Profiles, my FurAffinity page and Google+ page, my other social networks (Facebook, Twitter, etc.), and some other information; and a professional card with a link to my resume, my phone numbers, and some other things professionally related.
The technology is cool and all, but what's even cuter are the tokens one can buy. They make some pretty professional-looking ones that look (and function) like simple flash drives, but the one I sketched above is their pokenSPARK model. Yes, they look like little characters, and you can order unstickered ones for about 20.00 US$ a pop. Furthermore, they have templates for the proper size of stickers in Adobe Illustrator format, and they can either print out a roll of stickers for you, or you can print the stickers yourself.
I'm sorely tempted to put aside some money, buy a bunch of Pokens, and sell them at, say, Furry or Anime conventions—because the trouble I always have is I find people I want to know more about, but never a really good way of getting their information conveniently. Sure, I can get their phone number, and from there get things like their gamer tags and Facebook pages and FurAffinity pages; but this totally simplifies that dilemma. Plus, the pokenSPARKs have the ability to be UBER CUTE—just look at the Panda one coming out: (http://www.poken.com/spark)
So, a cute toy, but nothing more; or an actually sellable and useful product for con-goers? Also, anyone find that bear's shirt funny, or just me?</geek>
