9"x12" portrait commissioned by 
of her arctic fox character Hikari with a japanese theme. I was told that one of Hikari's favorite things is butterflies, and since I love them too I was happy to include them in both the kimono and perching delicately on some of the framing.
Photo ref used to get the positioning and angle of the umbrella right. Still not sure I completely succeeded, but those things are tricky. lol

If you're referring to the black in the umbrella I did that with my inking pen, and my scanner does brighten that just a bit. The rest is done with a darker grey copic, I don't usually use pure black for things like fur or fabric because I lose all my shading.
Anyone who's gotten art from me will tell you though it looks MUCH better in person than it does on screen. Scanner does wierd things, moniter makes them worse, etc. etc.
