Seeing as I'm one of the admins and also one of the founders of  pmd-awakeningoftheancients I guess it's probably kind of a good idea for me to show that I actually have done some work for it apart from all the lore; and give future and current members a bit of an example of a decent profile. Although this is probably a bit of a high mark to set; I probably put a bit too much work into my profiles on the whole.

Regardless, here's Axel; my first proper AotA character and one I'm quite proud of. He's cliche, yeah; but I think he's a nice concept to work with; and his current conflict is one I've found very interesting and enjoyable to write for. Sort of my idea of a perfectly balanced character; nice, sure; but still has potential for more morally ambiguious actions; an important trait to have if a plot's going to come together or if the character's going to be very interesting. I just can't stand simply 'good' or 'evil' characters. So get used to grey-and-grey morality throughout my work for this group; it's sort of the mood I'm aiming for with my pieces for it.

Ability: Run Away: As one of a speedy species and a dedicated on-foot speedster himself Axel can easily outrun even trained combatants; unsurprisingly preferring flight over fight when it comes to dealing with similarly strong or simply stronger foes; leaving all but equally dedicated speedsters in the dust with his impressive speed.

Personality:
Axel believes whole-heartedly in dealing with every problem with speed; or at least every physical problem with speed. When it comes to a mission or the like for the Guild he always wants to be first up to the plate and first out the door; not through arrogance or belief in his own superiority but simply because he allows that principle of physics to rule his life; almost as if seeking enlightenment via speed itself. This is not to say that he isn’t at all arrogant, though; he does take a lot of pride with the momentum he can reach on foot and wouldn’t miss any chance to extinguish any challenges to his superiority in that field; and should be lose he’d simply work to become faster until he succeeded.

Indoors and generally socially though Axel isn’t quite so obsessive; typically keeping his passion strictly to the field; even he knows that most don’t want to hear about it. Rather ironically, in fact; when it comes to dealing with people the short boy is somewhat shy despite his loud and proud attitude towards his sprinting; typically disliking to talk about his personal life and instead being content to hear about others’; preferring to keep his own opinions and interests under strict secrecy. While it can take some time to make the boy open up some might regret doing so afterwards; as the boy’s somewhat childish and clingy attitude can get rather obnoxious; even though his heart is in the right place.

During recent times however Axel has grown to be rather more insecure and anxious; especially in regards to working for the Guild; an unsurprising condition given his much admired brother’s recent tragedy; beginning to doubt that his originally unwavering loyalty in the Guild is as well placed as he once believed. Only to add to these troubles are his continuing assignments dealing with rogue Guild members; as the testimonies of those he is supposed to fight as to their reasons for leaving the Guild feel closer and closer to home…

Interests:
Unsurprisingly Axel is just as obsessed with being a demon on foot outside of the Guild’s operations as he is within it; spending time every day to keep himself in peak condition and trying to beat his personal records; striving to do better. However, despite his usual emphasis on this interest Axel has other hobbies; although he rarely speaks of them to anyone but his closest friends. Worthy of note are his acute singing talents and liking for cooking; which he typically keeps under wraps due to his concern that he might be mocked for his slightly effeminate preferences.

Outside of his minor hobbies though Axel is quite dedicated to the Guild’s operations; as shown by his notably high rank and good reputation amongst the Guild’s hierarchy; earned via his eager to please attitude and the hard work he puts into his duties in order to try and impress his brother. The boy quite enjoys the action his missions entail; along with the general feeling of having done something good; being rather simple-minded in his kindness like that.

Beyond his domestic hobbies and his dedication to the Guild, however; the Furret has always had dreams of studying and practicing aviation; his dreams of the speed of jets and the like fuelling his curiosity towards such flying machines; a bit of an ironic passion given his dislike for cars and other such automobiles due to them not being direct forms of self-propulsion like his feet. Regardless, the boy does have some experience with basic aircraft, to the point of having a license to use most of the more tame planes and gliders; although the jets and aircraft of his dreams are obviously far beyond his reach.

Biography:
Axel originally grew up at the bottom of the social food chain throughout his schooling in his hometown in Rasch Desert; always being the nerd or simply the awkward one; rather than the sporty boy he is now. Picked on and bullied for his slightly effeminate interests and attitudes Axel’s self-esteem continued to plummet; and his parents curiosity as to why he wasn’t adapting to the school environment as well as his older brother was only worsening things for him.

However, then came his big break courtesy of his older brother; who truly introduced him to his nature as one of the fastest things on two feet; taking him along on one of his runs. Inspired by his brother’s own speeds Axel worked hard to try and match his speed; eventually doing so much to his older brother’s pride. Soon after Axel had reached this mark in regaining his confidence came a sports carnival within his school; allowing him to impress his peers with his unexpected sprinting prowess; earning him the respect he had sought after for so long and finding him his true passion in life.

Axel continued to follow in his beloved brother’s footsteps even after his school-sport related days were over; joining the Guild as per his brother’s example as soon as he could; leaving his parents truly proud of their sons’ choices to dedicate their lives to the support of others. While Axel was nowhere near as smart or skilled as his brother his determination to impress his role model drove him through the ranks close behind his hero; impressing the Guild’s hierarchy with his unquestioning yet determined and skilled nature.

However, at barely the age of twenty six Axel’s brother was caught in a tragedy; whilst on a mission into the domain of Zapdos the Furret was fried by the Legendary itself; leaving him totally paralysed; and his teammates for the operation were forced to regretfully leave the injured boy behind; barely returning in time with support to manage to return him to base in a stable condition. However, Axel’s brother was left in a coma from the experience; and even should he recover he would most certainly never be running again.

With his hero and brother’s life wrecked before his eyes without even a chance for him to say goodbye before the accident Axel’s life has since gone into a downward spiral as his doubts as to the Guild’s trustworthiness given the circumstances of his older brother’s paralysis and his own slowly eroding self-confidence are truly beginning to take their toll on the sensitive boy’s psyche; a fact not helped by his lack of immediately close friends or family to rely on in the Guild…

Appearance/Clothing:
Axel is quite a small boy; unsurprising given his species albeit a bit odd for his age. Regardless; his petite size is perfect for his passion; as such a light weight even with his considerable muscle in mind gives him an excellently aerodynamic shape well suited to his running. He also has a notably long and thick tail; as per her species shape; which also aids in his running as a balancing aid.

Typically Axel wears rather odd outfit; at least in comparison to many of the other members of the Guild’s preferences; made up of a yellow jacket tightly bound around him with a belt and a pair of bluish-grey trousers; along with a pair of fingerless brown gloves. However, the Furret’s choice in outfit has some reason behind it; as the thicker clothing allows him to handle falls and the like; common when it comes to using his speed in many of the harsher environments his missions lead him through. The boy does occasionally wear different clothes depending on the situation and climate; but he always has his beloved pair of aviator goggles; a gift from his big brother from many years ago; which he keeps for both their sentimental value and their practicality; having your eyes covered while running at high speed tends to be quite handy unless you want wind or dust blinding you.

Strengths:
Axel truly is the speed demon he claims to be; able to outrun practically anyone unless they’re using major speed boosting technologies or abilities thanks to his life-spanning and highly dedicated training; along with his species natural affinity for speed. The muscles he’s built for speed a fine for other things too, of course; giving him an advantage with most physical tasks.

While he can be rather shy, Axel is a kind boy regardless of his recent trauma; with a good intent at heart; and no real ill will to most unless they do earn his disrespect. He has a very loyal attitude in regards to his superiors; and tends to latch on to others like a little brother; admiring anyone who proves their worth to him and working honestly and tirelessly to improve himself as to meet their example.

Weaknesses:
While Axel is speedy and light on his feet his passion for being on the move can be his own downfall; as he can often be too rash and eager for his own good; and also has issues with thinking on his feet on occasion; relying heavily on orders to get anything done; always highly dependent on his superiors for better or worse. Also, while he’s light on his feet and rather tough; he has some issues fighting; as his light weight makes him easy to knock about.

Emotionally Axel has many weaknesses as well; his naivety and over-reliance on people is probably his main flaw as it leaves him very gullible; as shown by his continuing insecurities over his current loyalty to the Guild; as well as leaving him as rather poor at dealing with being independent; having always had his brother to lean on. His tendency to latch onto people older than him and consider them role-models can also be a problem; as not everyone he looks up to are the finest people.

Moves:
Quick Attack: Naturally speed is the true basis of Axel and thus his fighting style; leaving this move as the only logical choice for the boy’s basis for his way of dealing with combat. The boy relies on a hit-and-run style of combat as to make the most of his speed while making up for his light weight and poor defensive abilities; using the swift acceleration this move grants him to allow him to jet into and out of the range of close combat; as well as to give him that extra boost of speed while running via propelling himself with his natural electric charge; although the latter application tires him quite quickly.
Fury Swipes: A typical choice of move for Axel’s species with this he simply makes the most of his natural claws; tearing into his target with his claws; combining the slashes with his usual speed as to continue to make the most of his natural talent.
Thunder Punch: While an odd choice in move given Axel’s Furret heritage he considers it important as it is his only easy way of incapacitating foes via its paralytic effect. And because his brother taught it to him, in order to aid him in his Guild activities.
Helping Hand: While Axel isn’t part of a team and usually prefers working alone he still knows how to work with others; a necessary part of being in the Guild. With this move Axel simply prepares to aid his teammates in any way possible; most likely giving them a boost to their momentum courtesy of the high speed he usually stays at while in fights or out on the field in general.
Defence Curl: While typically one for staying on the offensive Axel still does have some defensive techniques at his disposal; although he only has one true defensive move to work with. With this move he follows his instincts; rolling into a ball with his tail tucked over his head; his backbone and skin across his newly limited exterior hardening via atomic changes in order to leave Axel as an almost steel-strength skinned ball.
Thunder: Despite his Normal-Type species Axel is very attuned to the element of electricity due to his Manectric father; and this move is really the pinnacle of his lightning based abilities. With this move Axel essentially drops a bolt of lightning from the cloud above on his target; with all its immense power and electrical charge in tow… but typically without its pin-point precision; courtesy of his inexperience.
Rollout: The logical evolution of Axel’s Slam move. With this move the Furret rolls into a ball after gaining notable speed and alters his back’s atomic make-up like in Defence Curl; in order to essentially become a bowling ball of sorts and slam into his target. While the move gives Axel far less manoeuvrability in comparison to Slam it gives him additional force to his attack with the centrifugal force it entails; and gives him a chance to continue rolling should his target fall to the move’s power.
Attract: A rather… unique move for a Furret; let alone a male; let alone someone like Axel; and only a recently gained move for the boy regardless of its presence’s likeliness. While Axel isn’t quite conventionally attractive for the most part; having ended up just a bit too short for the right physique, his somewhat cute appearance and attitude still allows this move to work; essentially manipulating its victims mind as to make him the single centre of their affections. Of course, being the boy he is Axel is bitterly ashamed of this move, having only accidentally gotten it in the first place; and commonly outright refuses to use it or even denies he even has it in order to protect his ego.
