I was just sketching recently and sort of formed this fella. I drew him in various styles and a history just sort of evolved.
Cherubael is a Daemonic hound and has powers over fire, shadow and conjuring magic.
He is assisted by Belial, who was once a greater Daemon but due to his arrogance was forever bound to Cherubael and to never know power like that he once had. Upon being chained into slavery, Cherubael was taught the Daemons true name and as such has complete control over the being. Shamed and shackled into an existence of servitude, the Daemon has since become known as Belial-meaning he who shall never rise. The box that hangs around Cherubaels neck contains Belials true name, a further punishment to him as he is eternally close to the essence of his once great being but forever denied. The box was especially crafted by a deity named Baal-Berith, a Daemon who could do wonderous things to precious metals and craft them to what his will desired. Baal-Berith is also the overseer to problems that arise in all realms, and saw only fitting that he would be the one to craft the prison to contain Belial.
