Are so beautiful tonight...
Just some practice at colouring light and night scenes.
yes, so this is the aftermath of the party scene I illustrated a while back with a drunk Twizz. Bedtime dear indeed. (Nopenothingdirtyhappenedgetyourmindoutofthegutter)
This one requires a bit of explination, because otherwise the colours of the light don't make sense...
So, This is in Margareaux's room. He lives with his father in a rather shitty, lower class neighbourhood. The colours of the light are the colours of the streetlights and the neons from a sleazy strip club across the street. Before you ask, no Margareaux has no curtains.

I think the environments are just so... vivid and filled with little details that give them so much more character than the trimmed, manicured suburbs and stuff. I'm not too fond of the sanitary look some spaces have.
Not to mention that living in those environents gives a character a lot of backstory to work with. :3

Pretty much. Not to mention that my overactive imagination can pretty much picture Margareaux's tiny flat (with the cockroaches in the bathroom and the posters covering holes in the wall) a lot better than any clean cut environment (which is why I am really struggling to come up with a reasonable living space for Twizz, ha ha).
Not to mention that most of the it's a lot easier for me to write stories about characters living in nasty situations than the mildly sheltered, blissful existance of suburbia. It seems a bit more... real.

I guess I can relate better to small, cluttered, dirty spaces because I'm used to living in small, cluttered spaces (I do keep things reasonably clean, though). XD
I have never had a squatter character, but Rodney seems incredibly interesting. :3
I guess it's just easier to write for the aesthetics you find more pleasing. I like grungey, fucked up, scrawny, bizzare characters and environments that resemble them. So naturally I am screwed when it comes to writting Twizz. At least he's got the crushing emptiness of a shallow existance and parents who didn't want him in the first place to make him a bit more interesting.
