Weapon - HC-44D Diabolos Sniper
The Diabolos Sniper is a high-powered, high-velocity single-shot plasma projection cannon. The capacitors need to be manually recharged after every shot, and even then, they take a few seconds to recharge. This is a safety precaution because the electromagnetic "shell" sent downrange with the plasma ball to contain it requires considerably more power than the assault version, and thus requires considerably more power to operate per shot.
The velocity of the plasma ball is also much higher, requiring the electromagnetic jaws to operate at a much higher operating wattage. The Diabolos Sniper's rounds move at two to three times the velocity of those from the Diabolos Assault, depending on settings, to improve accuracy.
Unlike the assault version, the Diabolos Sniper has no anti-grav units or inertia dampers for two reasons. First is the fact that all power is allocated to the fire control system to maximize output and ammunition/power stores. Second is the fact that the Sniper is decently balanced on the shoulder. The power source and plasma chamber are both well behind the shoulder, and the muzzle has a retractable bipod.
A high-resolution sight-scope is built into the weapon, as is a fire control computer that automatically determines a firing solution and adjusts the sights accordingly.
Another notable feature of the Diabolos Sniper is the fact that the jaws open horizontally rather than vertically. This is done to allow the shooter to fire from the much more stable prone position, where the assault requires the user to stand or at most kneel or crouch.
