Another aspect of Apophysis 3D hack, with the right variation of settings, you can get a plastic look to your flames (constructs) then it is a matter of getting the lighting and color jussst right for that weird plastic look and feel.

Your filter radius is set far too low, boost it up to ~.6 at the very least. You'll get rid of the aliasing and fuzziness, the flame will be much smoother, and the render quality will overall just be higher. It'll increase the render time a bit, but if you click "post-process after rendering" in the render window, you can keep the FR low for the main render, then boost it in post.
Hope this helps!

I wish you the best of luck! I encourage you to browse through some apophysis and fractal centric groups over on deviantArt. There are tons of resources for new fractalists; tutorials, plug-ins for apophysis, and many helpful people. There are a few folks on here that do fractal art, so seek them out (myself included) if you ever have a question! Fractal art is a new medium that's still growing and gaining acceptance, you'll be hard-pressed to find people in it who will refuse to help or are complete asses.
My first thing i wanted to create was the hearts i was seeing everywhere. Tried and tried on my own but all i could create was scrambled eggs.. and I do mean scrambled.. Was a tutorial that finally steered me right. Might i ask that you include some your recipes with your work so others like me can understand how you was able to create your work?
I don't want to include parameters in the submission descriptions as they take up way too much damn space, and in all honesty, most people don't use them, and when they are, the origin is often not credited. I'd be more than happy to send you the parameters of some of my fractals in a PM though provided that if you submit something using them that you credit the original work! I may have used variation plug-ins that you don't have in 2.08, so be aware that it might not look exactly like how I have it!
