Jaezel got me Alan Wake last week which I played over the weekend for my streamers. I'd heard mixed reviews about the game but enjoyed it, although part of that enjoyment might be because the people watching enjoyed it so much.
I decided I wanted to do a thematic image to commemorate it, and this came out. So here is Gen in the title character's role with her pistol and her flashlight, walking through the darkness and swearing under her breath and occasionally at the top of her lungs.

I remember you going "OHGODOHGODOHGODOHGODOHGODOHGOD!!!" when the possessed bulldozer attacked. That was amusing, for some reason ;)
Great card, Gen! I love the lighting and it was interesting see how you drew that first, with me being used to such things coming last on miniatures.

Well, with the lighter colors I felt it would look better, I could slop on the light effects first and then draw over and around it as I did everything else. If I was trying to do an effect like this with miniatures I'd probably paint it up normally and then drybrush some white or yellow on it to simulate lighty effects.
BTW, I found candy corn today! It's not Halloween themed though. You'll see what I mean :)

While I didn't notice any specific morals in the game, the setting and the theme of light and dark sets the atmosphere in a pretty deep place.
Your drawing shows what happens in the early game pretty well. You're unaware, terrified, stick to your cheap flashlight and a century old revolver.

Unfortunately the only reason why I was able to play this at all was the PC release as I don't own and can;t stream an XBox. Until the modules and such also get released I'll have to hold off. Hopefully the fact that it sold well for PC will hurry the release of future projects though.
Hiya, Gen! I've got a story to go along with this picture:
Ahem:
The night had been one thrill and shrill after another for the artist, after finding herself in the remains of a car after diving into the lake to save her husband she had been walking around trying to find help. What she found made her wish she had looked for assistance elsewhere: when she came upon a large logging area she heard a noise and went to investigate it and saw someone standing in the middle of it. Calling to him to get his attention she saw that the person was standing over another figure on the ground... one with a very nasty looking wound in his chest and the tool that caused said wound still lodged in. Shocked into silence as the realization of her witnessing a murder she watches as the murderer yanks the weapon, now confirmed to be an axe, out of the victims chest. As he does she hears his voice as the pitch suddenly plummets from a gleeful tenor to a terrifying bass as he speaks in broken sentences.
"Opehids HHHHHHHowl, GLAD to see you here." "We help build the finest houses this side of.... Ikur Springs!" The finest wood cut from... RIGHT HERE in these very forests.
Gen wonders what he's talking about then notices that aside from his turbid talk is what seems to be coming off of him: What looks to be black ink or even smoke of some sort wafts and whirls off his body covering everything and masking any defining features. Plus the living darkness caused his form to warp, seeming to bend and move around as if it was a part of a bad signal on a T.V. set. Despite that it seems that Opehids finally notices the hapless artist and with a good yank the axe rips out of the chest of the one on the ground lifting it up and walking towards Gen. Gen steps back and begins to shout at him trying make him come to his senses while back stepping to hopefully avoid becoming only half of who she is.
Then when the axe maniac gets to a certain point he suddenly runs up to her and raises the sharp axe into the air preparing to swing and end Gen's life. For his target the blade shines in the moonlight, showing off the coat of crimson from it's previous receiver and it will soon have her life splattered on it in a single slice. Then adrenaline takes over and her heart does triple time her lungs draw in a seemingly impossible amount of air and Gen explodes into action. She twists and jumps to the left landing on her left foot and sprinting out of the way leaving the axe to chop the ground instead of her shoulder. Spinning around she faces her attacker just as he picks his axe up and charges, she takes off and weaves through piles of lumber trying to lose him. The shadow slayer follows her through every twist and turn taking swings when he saw a chance to strike. Gen gets her chance to escape when the Axe man's weapons gets wedged in between to large logs and the artist ups the pace eventually finding safety in a lighted office.
Her pursuer is heard babbling outside banging on the door as he attempts to force his way in and Gen backs up only stopping as she hits the wall and waits.
Finally after 5 heart pounding minutes the noise stops and the murder's voice fades, Gen can finally breathe a sigh of relief as she knows that she is safe. Next to her on a table she sees a revolver and some extra ammunition along with a flashlight. Picking up both she sees a phone further away and silently thanking a higher power picks it up and dials. Only to discover that there's no dial tone or for that matter any sound at all. Tapping the buttons again does nothing and she discovers why: the phone isn't connected at all. Cursing to herself she knows the only option now is to head out into the woods and find someplace with aworking phone. Of course that seems somewhat suicidal at this point she only has a revolver that she's never used before and a little flashlight to help her through the woods. Pitting herself against any horrors out there would make anyone cower but then she remembers that her husband is missing and she wants to find him and get him back, if she doesn't do this he could be lost forever.
Taking a deep breath she opens the second door on the opposite end of the office and steps out. Turning on the flashlight she illuminates a trail into the deep woods.
"Well, Gen, here we go."
Heading down the path she has stumbled into a great adventure and a war between blinding light and merciless darkness.
We hope you know what your getting into Gen Wake.
The End.
Whew. My second short story for FurAffinity and second for an Alan Wake themed picture. To tell you the truth when I looked a this scene of Gen walking in the woods in Alan's role I decided to write about it and this is what I came up with. Hope it isn't too bad. Enjoy.
Ciao for now.
