The idea of a pony reenacting Talking Heads' "Once in a Lifetime" wouldn't leave my head, so I worked out band, song and video associations for all the ponies. Ahh, MTV at its bowtie-and-dorky-glasses artiest. Also, Tiny Toons reference!

Your humor-fu is stronger that mine. I totally would have gone with the cheap and easy "Diamond Dogs" gag for Rarity. Maybe a "Space Oddity" one for a one-step removal thing.
