A little comparison of size of my new Thunderwolves next to a 'normal' marine, in this case my Long Fang Pack Leader.
For those interested, yes the wolf is on a dreadnought sized base.
The Thunderwolf rider here has been converted by adding parts from the older Space Wolves accessory sprue.

not really, if you've seen the new runs of models coming out they are so much better than before. It's just hitches while they work with a new material. The same thing happened when they changed from Lead to White Metal. There were miscasts for ages and mold problems to boot, but after 18/24 months it all settled down and they had the technique right. the odd one or two slipped past QC but no-ones perfect.
I'm a huge fan of finecast and find it really easy to work with, the odd bubble or malformed section can be easily fixed with green stuff or liquid green stuff. People need to realize the hobby involves modeling, so they stop momplaining and actually but what the hobby requires and actually work on modeling skills.
sorry that devolved into a rant. didn't mean to :-P

I have to agree with Chitter. I abhor resin in general due to how difficult it is to work with. It requires so much more cleaning, filling, sanding, filing, and resculpting. I got a NJal Stormcaller Finecast and really am not pleased with it. It even has some remainder of the release agent left on it. I do plan to work with it, however, simply because no matter what GW I go into, nobody has one in stock I can SEE. The one I got I ordered on-line for this reason and...never again. I wanted NJal in finecast due to his lighter weight because I'm using him in my Space Hulk games for my Space Wolves team.
Glad to see the thunderwolves today in plastic. At the GW I went to, however, not one person was building any of the new space wolf or tyranid models so I didn't get to see any of the models built already or in progress or even sprues. I got me a box of fenrisians for now though.

Normal resin isn't so bad. Finecast... isn't resin though- it's a hybrid material, like the stuff that privateer press is using- but... with more mixed results so far. I do like resin when it's one right- my 'the Grudge' bust by reaper is resin, and it was an absolute dream working with. Every few seconds while painting the beard I kept finding more and more little details for example.
so now hat you have your thunderpuppies of doom! *laughs* sorry just kidding thunderwolves love *snugs and purrrrs* you gonna run with the new wolf lord with the them of him being the deathwolf like in the white dwarf article or you taking Canis... or being real mean and having both?
*shi nods* i just find if you take that new finecast lord and canis the way they have him set up in the white dwarf seems kinda useless... an dpointless if canis comes with sage of the wolfkin... why not give this other one like warrior born... or bear make him really beefy and make a lasting impression.
p.s. working on a mean old list for that 'gentlemen' at the gw we talked about earlier... wondering thoguh.. is 5 units of sword brethern terminators with cyclone launchers and tank hunter been considered excessive force against him... or just fair game to make him feel like crap at having to face 20 str 8+1 kark missiles a turn.

I approve of that BT beardyness!
The wolf lord they set up was Harald Deathwolf, and they were staying true to character with him as he always had lots of wolves and thunderwolves in his company, and not everyone would take Canis. I think he's a really characterful set up and good for a themed army and friendly games. for a tournament I'd probably go with something else though, but I bought him to make me happy
