Today I had to put my cat and companion of 18 years to sleep. His kidneys had been failing for a while now, his health was not great and after having tests run again this morning I decided his quality of life was just not there anymore (based on evidence at hand, behavior, etc.)
It's never easy to do or decide, but when it came down to it I decided what was best for him, not what was best for me. Rest well my old friend.
He was named Lovecraft in honor of my favorite writer, HP Lovecraft. I mean what else should one name a black cat? If you have a chance, try reading some of Lovecraft's stories.

Oh my gosh, I can't believe I'm barely seeing this just now. I'm so sorry hun. *hugs tight* He was a good kitty, but yeah, he could be a bit of a monster. Sometimes I was even genuinely afraid of him. I hope you're doing okay, it's never easy losing such long time beloved friend.
