This characther comes from the french TV series "The Mysteries of Providence".

The series is located into a very small city on the shores of a lake: apparently it seem a nice quiet little town but actually the city appears to holding a secret related from the beggining of time itself like it is explained in the intro:
"Before the birth of ice and fire, and many-many years before the existence of the first tribes, seven wise men buried a treasure in an enchanted land, to keep it away from evil forces. But today that treasure is in danger, and the only one who can protect it is the one who reads the parchment and confronts the evil powers, to uncover the secret of Providence."
The protagonist is an antro pig by the name of Oscar , who was a sea-captain in his youth, and in the series works as a private detective. He's an accurate, polite, smart pig, who even notices a hair amiss. Formerly he traveled the world and uncovered many secret as archaeologist; he saw a lot of things, so it's not very easy to fool him. During one of his expedition he found an old parchment that spoke about a mysterious treasure hidden in his own hometown, Providence.
After this discovery Oscar is frequently haunted by a dream in which a he believe to see the mysterious treasure, altough not being able to understand what is it.
Determined to discover the secret he return to Providence and with the help of his friends Kate and Martin Oscar tries to do some research but the job isn't easy and not just because the fact that the treasure is hidden.
A mysterious masked magician with a mask hiding his face in fact, continues to spy on the actions of Oscar and his friends.
The magician apparently seems to hinder Oscar at all costs to prevent him from discovering the secret.
The magician studies the hidden desires of the citizens of Providence, which in reality behind a seemingly respectable appearance often hide a dark side characterized by any of their desires for power, wealth, fame, and others. Once finding their true desires the wizard empowers the citizen with his magic powers giving them great abilities or knowledge as well as feeding their dark side. Oscar and his friends are then forced to fight against the dark forces unleashed on Providence.
In reality, this apparent antagonist at the end turns out to be the last of the seven sages, and that his intent was to test Oscar and his friends because, being now near death, he must find new guardians of the treasure of Providence. Believing Oscar and his friends to be some good candidates he tested them, by creating the dark phenomena on Providence.
After facing several trials Oscar and his friends are having to face the toughest test of all: their real enemy turns out to be Auguste Gagliari, a powerful evil sorcerer who wants to seize the treasure.
Gagliari originally appears as a ram dressed as a gentleman of the nineteenth century, toward the end of the episode Gagliari will turn into a creature somewhere between a werewolf and a satyr with sharp teeth and claws and a formidable strength as well as powerful magic powers.
But in the end will be defeated by Oscar and his friends beat him saving the treasure of Providence and the entire world.
