This picture I was actually just informed about today and it came as a surprise to me :3 I was happy to learn that the pictures that one Military journalist person from the Navy took back in February made it somewhere, well...mine at least :3 The others are probably on a Camera, but who knows! Anyways, yes, this is me.

Just out of curiosity, those bombsuits... Are they worth anything when you're that close? Are they designed to provide protection given a certain distance? Sure, the bigger you can make the distance, the better are your chances to survive, but what is the limit of those things? I know this probably is a science on its own, but is there some kind of rough-and-ready rule?

That close? No, the main thing it is designed for is to help prevent frag (( the only real frag protection is in the front )) and to limit the effects of blast overpressure on the body.
But in reality, it just holds your body together so it something does go wrong your body can be buried as is rather than in pieces.

well was going to college and after the first semester realized I had spent the last 18 years of my life sitting in schhol and doing nothing but learning in a classroom...I didn;t want to be couped up in the classroom for another four years, so i joined the army and chose the most difficult job I could and the rest is history, almost done with schooling for EOD too :>
I love it because it's all hands-on learning rather than in a classroom all day. It's also really fast paced too :> we have a test every three days. By the end of school I will have the equivalent of 3900 hours in school. And while most Masters students do that over a few years, we do it in about 10 mionths :P
