Bluth-esque sketches
F5 for larger view, I accidentally made the original upload too small.
I recently unearthed a bunch of character sketches from Don Bluth movies so I spent a few minutes sketching Niko in Bluth-esque fashion just for fun. Not my best by far but I enjoyed it!
Needs more floppy hair and warts.
Also also, I tend to draw Niko very gender neutral because she's a cartoon dog and sometimes girlifying her makes her look TOO girly, and Bluth girls look really uuuh..I like them but I don't think Niko fits well into that style XD Loni Anderson collie she ain't.

"Needs more floppy hair and warts" - if there were one sentence that summed up his style nicely it would be this one. (I mean srsly, don't all of his male characters have basically the same hair-style down to the cowlick?)
But I love these sketches! The emotiveness of your own style couples well with Bluth's - cheers! 'Specially love the one above warty-hairy Niko where she looks like she's begging for a treat or something, very, very Bluth-esque!

Haha thanks :D I would always joke around with my friends about how it must be his favorite thing to draw, he would give things floppy hair just for the sake of secondary animation and there's all sorts of warts happening for no apparent reason XD
And yeah, I dunno if someone told him "this is what handsome looks like" and he's just used that formula over and over again for his male heroes or what. Though I did have quite a crush on Dimitri from Anastasia back when I was a kid, to me he was "different" (though now I realize he wasn't really, just the nose ;D)

At least Disney princes have all been totally unremarkable in different ways!
(Okay yes a few exceptions, but usually only if they are an actual character with a personality and character arc in the story. And if they're not a beast for the majority of the movie.)
Honestly I just like to forget that everything after Rock A Doodle existed (which makes the majority of blandland humans go away.) Although if one hears me sing "IMMA BAD TROLL" randomly I blame the Nostalgia Critic review...
