It's a combo. I typically draw on paper only, but he needed work in Photoshop.
The method I use for lines is pretty easy. I think we both use similar pens to ink, so it should work for you:
1. scan art at 300 dpi greyscale
2. adjust brightness/contrast up a bit, like 25%
3. duplicate the layer and lay it on top with a multiply.
4. flatten image
5. make a new background layer under your art, make it a neutral grey
6. select all of the white in your line art layer and delete.
7. lock line art layer
8. fill line art layer with black.
You can then keep your line art layer locked and color the lines anything you want. :D The edges look kinda' gritty when zoomed in, but it still prints smooth!
