Well there's a few easy tricks to remembering them
"Artic" is close to "Arctic", meaning cold. Also, Articuno is the first of the birds you encounter, hence the "uno". Uno in spanish means "1"
"Zap" usually refers to getting hit by lightning (and Zapdos is a lightning type). Also he's the second. "dos" means 2 in spanish.
"Mol" is short for "Molten", which is like lava or magma (which is essentially fire). He's the third, and "tres" means 3 in spanish.
:P

No no, you clicked mine, I just fell asleep is all xD
TBH there's nothing glaring at me in the face (plus I'm still upset with him replacing Mewtwo in SSBB >_>), so I'm not really sure about him without delving deeper into it :P
All I know is most of the originals had some sort of naming scheme to them.
Probably the easiest one is Mewtwo, who is just a "second gen" genetically engineered cloned version of Mew. This is also told in the Cinnabar Mansion/Lab if you read all the books on the tables. (Note: In newer versions of the first-gen games, the Mansion was consolidated quite heavily, so you'll only see them in the original R/B (or G)/Y on Game Boy.
If there actually is something on Lucario, I'm sure you could find it pretty easily with a google search; I'm just too lazy xD
Also the Bulbasaur-Venasaur ones I'm just guessing, but Bulbasaur DOES have a bulb, and Ivysaur DOES have ivy vines. Venasaur's was a guess, but hell, why else name em "Bulba Ivy and Vena" if that's not the case?

it seems like it has an awesome name this is what i founds :3 "Its name probably comes from Lupaster, a subspecies of the Canis Aureus, the Egyptian Jackal. Lucario's name possibly derives also from part of a Japanese spelling of oracle or orichalcum in reverse, reflecting its mythical design, its ability to see into the supernatural, and its Steel-type. It may also refer to Cairo, Egypt. The word pharaoh may also be involved. Also, it may be derived from the Greek word lykos meaning "wolf". "
I bet they were...or just a random smash of consonant letters and then they just filled in some random vowel's?
I don't know if I spelled 'consonant' and 'vowel' correctly, since I'm Dutch, and I don't know the whole english dictionary out of my head and I use a translation site for some times ^^;

Possibly xD
Vowel is, "consonant" I'm not sure because idk how to spell that word. Mozilla is saying it's indeed a word though, so I'm guessing it is XD
For being Dutch, your grasp of the English language better than 90% of Americans. I'm being DEAD serious with that btw :)

Yep yep!
Consonants are every letter except "A" "E" "I" "O" "U", and sometimes people also include "Y" since supposedly every word has at least 1 vowel. This comes into play when some like "My" "By" "Why" etc., though it's truly a consonant.
Trust me when I say this: Even North American born people who become teachers that teach the English language aren't perfect at English. No one is.
!@#$ the haters if they say your English is bad because of your accent :P You type/spell it very well so I'm guessing you probably speak it just fine too :)
