Together we'll make Kony known all around the world. His atrocities have earned him to be the #1 sought after man on the International Criminal Court's list, but basically, because the UN have little merit both politically and financially with the stability in Uganda, this man has gone mostly unchecked for 20 years.
Let's make 2012 his last.

So hey, kind of a bad look for me, but oh well. I got suckered into the novelty of the approach, which I honesty still kinda like, but over the back for a call for justice and peace, scummy people were profiting from attention and donations. So yeah, this is a bit embarrassing for me, but a good reminder not to immediately get sucked into hypes and get the wool pulled over my eyes.

Well, the man DOES exist, and his crimes are true.
To really take part in this, I refer everyone to the INTERPOL site:

Use this to link and to spread the word, and I'm sure Youtube has a ton of videos already. ^^

Read the article, read all the links, fail to see how it's a scam. It supports local African military groups, which are also highly corrupt? Um, yeah, what the hell do you expect from that region? They're a lesser evil that needs to be cooperated with in order to bring this guy in, and their day will come. They spent more money on producing films and travel than direct support? No shit, their main mission is to raise awareness, and that's a pretty big way to do that. They also fly in victims of Kony's cruelty, which also costs a ton of money. They warp the facts to get across a point? Welcome to humanity, you talk as if you've never been acquainted with it before. They advocate direct military intervention? Who wouldn't? This man has convinced his followers he is of divine importance. Last I checked, the only way to get rid of actively violent religious zealots is with violence in turn, especially in destabilized places like Africa.
I personally think the complaints levied against them are ultimately petty, but if they're enough to turn anyone off to their cause, fine. But it's not a scam by any stretch of the word.

I think IC is mostly about sending military support in the shape of advisers, I kind of doubt the UN would be so invested into something that doesn't merit it financially or politically (unlike the middle east for example) to send a full force of military. With that supervision, the Ugandan forces would be kept in check and on the straight path, at least for as long as the mission lasts.
Repost from facebook:
Hey, just thought I'd let you know that Invisible Children is a non-transparent organization seeking direct military intervention in Africa. They have no grasp of the situation, and have effectively made things much worse in Northern Uganda, where Kony has not been operating for five years. In fact, his army is now only 200 strong, and trapped in the Congo, a country which was brought to the most devastating war since World War II by Yuveri Museveni and Paul Kagame. Over 6,000,000 are dead and rising. Yuveri Museveni, the president of Uganda, is backed by Invisible Children.
Invisible Children works with warlords and rebel leaders who have tenuous relationships with one another, seeking to grant them power without any care as to what will happen after Kony is gone. These groups (the SPLA and the UPDF) have been at odds with one another for ages, and are being empowered by Invisible Children, which, in future, could lead to war in the currently peaceful Northern Uganda region.
But it will likely never be over, because the USA has been sending aid for the LRA mission in Uganda for years, which has even led to a bill proposed by the Invisible Children to be passed called the LRA Disarmament and Northern Uganda Recovery Act, which allows Northern Uganda to legally invade nearby nations if they believe the LRA is within their borders. This has allowed the dictator Museveni's army to loot and plunder the Central African Republic and DR Congo for resources, while simultaneously raping their women. They also induct ex-LRA child soldiers into their own army where they are uncompensated for their works, and untrained.
However, neither the Ugandan, nor the United States government have any reason to actually capture and kill Kony, as that would mean Uganda losing its unique power to legally invade other nations. On the USA's end, it would halt their AFRICOM missions in Uganda in order to secure African resources away from both rural citizens and the Chinese, who have expanded into Africa heavily over the last decade or so.
Citizens in all four affected LRA countries have spoken out against Invisible Children and their cause, and they want them gone. Invisible Children has undermined local aid in order to implement their own misguided programs which end up wasting money at best, if not degrading the quality of life in the region. Not to mention taking jobs away from Ugandan citizens. In fact, their safe transport program is used almost entirely by drifters who panhandle from city to city on NGO money. Since these programs are only available in Northern Uganda, where the LRA has not been for five years, nobody requires safe transport between villages, and so the program can only be utilized for useless means.
It should also be noted that Invisible Children's lobbying of the US government technically puts them in violation of the non-profit act. This could constitute tax fraud.
Their video is fancy, and on the surface promotes a positive message. However, you have to ask yourself, what does awareness do when the people who are becoming aware are a bunch of misguided North American college students? We in Canada and the USA have no knowledge of what life is like in Uganda. We don't understand their political or social climate. We don't understand their geography, or the relationships between businesses and the citizens of the country. Still, as Westerners, we assume that somehow we have the answer to this problem. Joseph Kony is not a disease, but a symptom of something endemic within Central Africa. He is one of dozens of similar warlords operating in the same region, albeit Kony is more transparent, making him more attractive as an enemy. He is someone we can all supposedly stand up and fight against, but all these efforts are doing is granting power to dictatorships and rebel warlords, which could ultimately end more lives than the LRA could ever dream of.
Going after Joseph Kony is like cutting off somebody's head to get at a pimple on their cheek.

No problem. And to be clear I'm faaar from being an expert on this, and haven't even really looked into this myself, my last two messages were both repost. Personally, I'm just naturally very leery of a gung-ho foreign policy attitude, and this situation seems like a particularly perilous one, with having to support one awful group to get rid of another. I can't even trust my own government to have Ugandan citizens' best interests at heart, let alone whoever they'd have to support.
Empowering one group of rapists and murderers to get rid of another with some vague idea that it might be 'their turn next' (presumably by empowering yet a third group, or would this eventually be done via full-scale invasion?) doesn't seem like something I'd ever want to support unless I was damn certain of my own knowledge and expertise on the area, and I'm sure most people who have seen the Kony documentory, including myself, are not. Even beyond the 'which is the lesser of two evils' question, I can't imagine how I could ever hope to evaluate the long term consequences of a power shift like that.
It's terrible when you hear about atrocities and their victims, and you know that the merest twitch of the combined Western military's muscle, or a tiny slice of foreign policy spending, could prevent it all. And I'm not even saying that I know for sure there isn't some net positive action that could be taken, I'm certainly not against all liberal intervention on principle. But I know with absolute certainty that I have no way of even beginning to work out what, if anything, that action would be... and I'm not even sure if there's any government I'd trust the decision too, either.

I direct you to my journal, just in case you wanted to know some more about all this, Kony should be stopped, but facts shouldn't be overlooked like they are in the video.

As in, the native military? The native military whose cooperation we need in order to bring him in? I'm sorry, but idealism like that will not get results before the man has died of old age. If your suggestion is bringing in the good old hired-gun Blackwater civilian-hunting military of a more "civilized" country that would no doubt cause more international incidents, then go right ahead and believe that that would somehow be better. Just don't pretend you have some moral high ground because you think picking a different poison would somehow yield less destructive results.
I believe it should be the UN who goes in and get those guys. Or someone, anyone, who's not going to murder and rape children.
Or something that would actually WORK.
Two wrongs do not make a right, and it would be wrong to support the native child-raping natives. I would've thought you'd have learned from Saddam Hussein and Osama bin Laden that tactic doesn't work. It just makes more enemies.

IC actually proposes sending military technology and advisers to reinforce the Ugandan army in order for them to hunt down these war criminals. I think a side effect of this may be that the UN forces, no matter how small, may play a supervising role to keep the Ugandan forces from looting and raping while they're on the job.
I for one support the cause, however, seeing their rather liberal spending, it's all put into advertising. And being a student whom has advertising techniques pumped into his skull by professors, I gotta admit, it's probably the better way to get noticed. And with the world-famous propaganda artist Shepard Fairey backing them, they definitely have my attention.
It's either this, or a repeat of the Vietnam protests that sometimes got out of hand. Propaganda works, end of story, and it has generated a lot of interest in this theocratic, child-abducting, guerrilla-tactical monster.
Also, there should also be interest generated in the other top-10 world criminals, such as;
Félicien Kabuga, funded the Rwanda genocides, the UN's greatest failure.
Dawood Ibrahim, India, the leader of D-Company
Joaquín Guzmán Loera, Mexico, cocaine druglord
Omid Tahvili, Canada, associated with Dawood, head of Canada's Crime Syndicate
and a few more...

Thank you! Honestly, I don't get how people cannot understand that their main objective is to raise awareness, and criticizing them for it. It's like they bought a tractor and are complaining that it won't roll over on command; what else were they expecting?
As for the other top 10 world criminals, if there's any justice in this world they'll be targeted next. All the same, as long as one of them goes down, it's still a step in the right direction.

Besides, if this move is to raise awareness by the rest of the world like a chain reaction, that means the funding they would have normally poured into propaganda, for which they have been criticized mostly, to go into more productive means of the cause. It's a simple step 1 moving into step 2 thing.
I'm not comparing the subjects, I'm comparing their representation. Neither is 100% truthful and advertisement and propaganda have been that way for hundreds of years. We're all intelligent people, so by now we know commercials oversell their products, we know that what happens in the Peta clips happens only in marginally amounts, but that doesn't mean there's no merit to the food we eat and it doesn't mean we shouldn't treat animals well right?
To embellish and exaggerate on something, there has to be a basis to embellish and exaggerate from. I support the base of this cause just like I would buy a fabric softener or a car. Just because the commercials make it look better than it actually is, the product still has merit.

I really dunno why so many people are against taking down evil men. I always give second thought on what groups actually do with the money they raise but it raises awareness of the kids situations and if only 100 kids were in that situation would that make it a good thing? i dont really care how much theyve blown it out of proportion, the fact is his crimes are against innocent kids and no man like that deserves life :\ so i support any attempt in raising this awareness.

It has objective facts, interviews from ex-LRA members, and it doesn't play on emotions, showing how a system which was already in place has helped people to escape the LRA and how continuing support for said group could undermine the structure of the LRA.
Or did you not watch it?
It was presented better don't get your panties in a bunch, I'm not arguing with you.

Yes it took me a few seconds watching that video to understand it was presented with the goal to inform, in an informative objective way.
Therefore, the goal of this video, is different from the goal from the IC video, which was meant to propagate. I think the IC video did pretty well to achieve that. If however, you criticize the fact that it's not presented as an informative video, you must be comparing the videos based on how informative and objective they are, which your video was aimed at, but the IC video was not. You are comparing apples and oranges.
I appreciate you have an opinion about presentations with informatively presented video editing, but it obstructs the discussion of what the IC video and my own contribution to IC in the shape of this piece of art is about. Your persistence however provokes arguments, so I would kindly request you to seek opportunity to discuss the objectivity of commercials and propaganda media elsewhere.

I would like to comment and say that these "sources" are really sad. Is the Ugandan Army perfect? Maybe not, but neither is any army in the entire world. Is Invisible Children a perfect organization? Maybe not but no organization can be perfect either. People also seem to forget it costs a shit ton of money to fund travel and films which all have to do with awareness, but people seem to think I guess that these things are free. Interesting, the ignorance of so many.
Furries especially seem to enjoy combating it, possibly because most are so closed off of the real world that they stay on their computers all day reading conspiracy theories and random independent sources spewing stuff all day. Whether it's real or not isn't the point, it's that people can't get out of their boxed-mind to see anything past "if it's for the good of humanity, it has to be evil" way of thinking.

Amazing that I hadn't heard about this till now. I'm not much of a face book user, but I keep an eye on the news now and then, and this is definitely something that should be front page.
I really hope we capture him, and plan to show any support I can. But I also hope it doesn't stop there, and things like this is brought to our attention even sooner. I didn't catch how long he's been doing this, but any length of time is too long, especially when dealing with children.
Since we cannot rely on news and media to bring to attention things that are actually important, what can we rely on?

Well think about osama bin laden, how the media was all over him and how the world wanted him hunted down because of it. There's plenty other scumbags just like him (or even worse) that don't enjoy global hatred simply because it's not in the economic or politic interest of the western countries to deal with these people. This is a cause that simply tries to make people like Kony as hated as say, Osama, in order to achieve the same effects, a sort of experiment
Right, which all makes sense to me. I just wonder how long it will take for a cause to come together for next threat. Like you said, there are lots of bad people out there, and I think there needs to be an organization to put the spotlight on these people, cause media won't. A big ole target on their head. After Kony is brought to justice, we need to find the next highest priority target, and start on them before they do damage.
Kony should have been stopped years ago...I basicly want to see an organization to nip any and all threats in the butt. Before thousands are hurt.
So I guess my question is, will this cause stop at Kony, or continue bringing light to the rest of the world, and hopefully continue to get stronger and bigger.

You don't get the point of this experiment hun. The point is, there doesn't NEED to be an organization that raises the awareness of bad people to the world. We can do it ourselves. This esxperiment is a test to see if we can put a person in the spotlight ourselves through virtue of mass interconnected media like facebook and all other means we use to share information.
I see. That's very bad indeed... I hope he is stopped. Though sadly, I seen enough to know some people do worse than that... and in many cases the law and government help them instead because they benefit from it. Being into politics (from what I'm seeing), this guy might have high support if he is needed by the "right" people :/
Oh hello person, who is definitely not DEffet creating another FA account to bother me. It sounds like you wish to censor me for my political opinions, not because they could be wrong, but because I should leave it to alleged experts altogether.
