Another bit of a decorating experiment.
This is a 6" white velvet cake, with mint buttercream, with some of the buttercream tinted blue. And lo and behold, my first successful buttercream rose! =D If anything, I'm darned proud of that rose :)
The vertical lines on along the side were inspired by the Wilton Yearbook from 1985...yeah, the style is out-dated, but I just *really* loved how they looked, and wanted to give it a try. Piping them were a lot harder than I thought they would be. I still need to find a way to better space out things so they look more even...but practice makes perfect, and hey, I'm only doing this on the fly >.>
Why blue? Why not? Well, Ok, I'm still somewhat limited in my gel food colourings, and blue was nice. Besides, blue roses are my favourite flower :)
The cake is destined to travel to my husband's workplace and be devoured by his co-workers ;)
