Nonsense... you went with it just fine and where is stopped was also fine... it was like a peek into the journal of an exchange student - it was rather reminisent of Germany in 1934 or there abouts - or even the USA in the not so distant past. It could be a lead in to somethig more... or not... that would be up to you. This was your Thursday Prompt?
Surprisingly, that usually doesn't register, at least not in fiction (art, well, yeah, look at my favorites). I think in stories, I tend to take more notice of zoomorphic than anthro tigers, but there usually aren't many of those around--it's hard to do something Watership Down-ish with a basically solitary creature.
