So like....I was inspired to do this because windmills are awesome...We were apparently gonna get some in my area, but they wanted to put them in one of the most conservative areas, so of course it got voted down despite the fact that it would cut our energy bills down by 1/3 >.>
ORIGINALLY just the windmill and grass appeared in my mind, but then after I had those done, the star thingies came to mind as well! ^^ and YOU WOULD NOT BELIEVE how many tries it took to get that windmill to look right! @.@ NEVER do shading BEFORE you get the background done, it ain't worth it!!!
Done in oil pastels, colored pencil, and lots and lots of white gel pen for sharpening windmill/fixing mistakes/all the little star thingies.

This is so cool! Like you, we were going to get wind turbines in an area where we used to keep out big boat, but all the conservatives and old fogies voted them down because they would be 'too ugly'. D:

I also saw petitions against them where I live. I refused to even take a note of them. It's people like those http://www.furaffinity.net/view/13344847/ who prefer to keep their numbers small, claiming they would ruin the landscape and hurt tourism. I guess it's just a matter of taste here, since I always liked windmills and can't see how a turbine ruins the landscape, even if it's a wind farm, since they represent our ambition to get clean energy. And I prefer a wind farm somewhere in a rural landscape over giant power plants. I don't think the latter would add something aesthetic to the landscape. Maybe it's just me, but I think turbines, windmills, lighthouses or various sorts of towers just look amazing in the landscape.
Absolutely. And despite the dynamics they add to a landscape they still make them seem calm, serene and tranquil. Just look at the first panel of http://www.furaffinity.net/view/4352708/ or the last of http://www.furaffinity.net/view/4352731 , also they are good for humor http://xkcd.com/556/ . I really do like the view of them.
