The Galyeon was Neu Samara's first Jump-2 Light Freighter and was intended to replace aging Earth built Swifts and Coventry class far traders alike.
Though not without its own design foibles - ie. no interior airlock to ground level passage, and internal access to the cargo deck's floor via ladder or side mounted 'balcony' lifts - the design became recognized as a formidable 'family operated/friendly' vessel, and many would become heavily modified or built with customized alterations over the decades.
Like many Neu Samaran ships, the design wasn't particularly noted for its internal elegance, but earned respect over time as a reliable design, with easy to maintain systems and easy to replace parts, even, eventually, along the Star Rim Trail, several centuries after its debut in the early 23rd century.
