I carved the ring out of wax by hand and then had it casted in sterling silver. After that I finished the surface and polished it.
I've worn it pretty much every day for the past year. It is pretty beat up but that just shows how much it means to me.

I totally want to design rings to be cast.
I've had friends who've done it before, and they came out very nice, just like this.
I've never tried my hand (er, paw? ugh, furries... /facepalm--PAW) at sculpting out of wax; is it forgiving enough? Like, can you reshape it if you make a mistake?

It is pretty forgiving, if you do mess up and take a chunk out you can use a small flame to melt more wax onto it to repair it as long as it is not too large. When I did this I basically carved it out of a circular blank of wax with an Xacto knife. Before I had it cast I had basically the exact same thing, only made out of blue wax. XD
