Very distinctive take on the lad.

Meant to give him horns, too, but I somehow forgot. Oh well. He looks spiffy enough without them (maybe they shed for the winter?). I like the NJ Devil; he's a sort of awkward, pathetic monster. More freakish than terrifying.

This guy always interested me, because I always wondered how the rest of his story worked out.
Mrs. Leeds gives birth to a devil and... What?
Does he kill his family? Hang around? Do all his siblings treat him like an abomination, or just their baby brother who happens to have wings?
Does Mr. Leeds freak out and take the family away, or try to hunt his demonic spawn down?
Does Mrs. Leeds feel guilty, for good reason or not?
How does the Jersey Devil himself feel about his situation and his family?

It depends on who's telling the story. Some of them say he killed his mother and the midwife, others that he just leapt out the window - apparently he was very precocious - but like you, I've always thought it would be a very interesting story to delve into and flesh out. Great idea for a novel. I imagine the demon would be a very sympathetic character, but maybe that's just because I like monsters.

You may have something of a monster-bias, but I tend to have far less sympathy for anyone or anything, and I'm still struck by the tragedy of that character.
There are actually a couple of books about him, but I haven't given them a look yet, as they don't look too compelling.
