If I can finagle other artists to give JV covers a crack, this one may be my last. If not, well, I've still got ideas...
I wanted to open up the third issue with a distinctive retro cultural feel, but keep things engaging. Plus, the cover plays off of my preference to draw faces, and it even gave me a shot at character design. Remarkably, the screen tones turned out to be a very simple process, one I might reserve for action sequences or psychedelic scenes where I need monotones.
The upcoming issue has several firsts. For starters, it takes place outside of America, meaning I had to do a bit of research. Second, it's the first where Aelius and I have co-written the script. Third, it's probably the first issue of JV to focus on the characters to a fairly serious degree.
Of course, this doesn't mean anything now. What you see is a cover! So, uh, voila!
