Wendell T. is actually one of the reasons I'm a furry and why I learned how to draw (If you want to say i learned at all), I saw him and I think my brain collapsed. I tried to draw him over and over from memory and i eventually sort of developed the style i have now from trying to draw his features. Yeah, basically, yes, in a way you're absolutely right. I love neurotic mess characters.
