Six Pillars is one of my spare-time projects, some stuff I've been tinkering with for a bit now. Will prolly explain more later, but for now, here's the main characters.
Top row, from left to right:
Baph-based off of the imagined pagan deity Baphomet, Baph represents the female aspect of said being, her brother Met, being the male aspect. Together they were capable of becoming a single deity of darkness, above mentioned Baphomet (usually depicted as having both genders, being genderless in my own story). Despite representing darkness, neither Baphomet nor it's two aspects are evil-they maintained ballance with the powers of light. However, over time Met became more corrupt and power-hungry, wishing to use powers of Baphomet to expand the territory of darkness. Baph tried to confront her brother before it was too late, however, he banished her to the world of mortals, not before draining a portion of her powers. Stranded in the mortal world, Baph travels around, trying to gather an army of sorts in order to confront her brother once again, while trying to find a way how to return to the world of demons. She's quite selfish in her quest at first, not caring about any casualties or refusing to meddle in the affairs of the mortals, while not having second thoughts about using said mortals to gain her own goals. However, over time, thanks to the influence of her small group and some other factors, she begins to care about the world she was destined to protect.
Macren-following in the footsteps of his deceased father, Thanabor, Macren joined the order of Dragon Knights at early age, growing up to be one of the most powerful, feared and respected warriors in the 8 kingdoms. Like other Dragon Knights, he's of a neutral alignment, travelling from town to town and helping those in need. Briefly settling down in a small fishing town, his act of selflesness and display of strength caught Baph's attention. Explaining her situation to him and proving her origin as one of the two Avatars of Baphomet, she convinced him to join her on the quest, becoming her right hand man. Still, he would often do whatever he can to help people in the places they go through, much to Baph's chagrin as she considers such affairs a useless distraction. He does manage to convince her that helping out others from act of kindness will always be eventually repaid by those to whom you help.
Aluzak-old friend of Macren's father, Aluzak joined the (by dragon standards) young warrior, hoping to not only be able to guide him to take the right path through life, but to also assist Baph, appearing to be well informed about her situation before she could even explain. Posessing a vast array of powerful sorceries and spells at his hand, Aluzak has, time and time again, proven himself to be the worthy addition to Baph's group. He can also summon a giant, seemingly invulnerable bird-like creature to carry the group to distant regions in short time.
(if you haven't noticed by now, this character is in name, slightly appearance and "bird rider" theme inspired by Moebius' character, Arzach. :P)
Bottom row, left to right:
Itrea-the quirky, hyperactive member of the group, Itrea is, like most arachnoids, quite skilled in stealth and thievery, having her own moral code of stealing only from the rich, in order to provide a better life for her family. After running into Baph, she overheard her talking to some soldiers and promising them wealth beyond imagination if they help her in her quest. She immediately asumed Baph must be some sort of rich noble having some money with her, so she tried to rob her. However, to her surprise, the demoness still had some of her magic within her, stopping the thief before she could make the move. Begging her to join the group and explaining her situation, Itrea barely managed to become a member-if nothing else she could thank it to Aluzak's attempts to convince Baph to let her in, and ever since then Itrea's goal is to not only help save the ballance of the universe, but to also find a large treasure she could use to provide better life to her family. She does her best to prove her worth, using her skills to gain posession of necessary items or get into hard-to-reach places. Her webbing is so strong even Macren's Dragon Blade has difficulties trying to cut through it.
Marga-being a dragon-human hybrid ain't easy. Especially when everyone confuses you for a demon thanks to your red skin. Thanks to this, Marga grew up to be quite snarky, grumpy and anti-social person. This can be attributed not only to her appearance, but to the fact her father, a 500 years-old dragon, was incredibly overprotective, rarely letting her leave from the mansion on her own. Fed up with his behavior, she ran off on her own to find her adventure. Despite her snarky, somewhat callous appearance, deep down she's a caring, kind individual, helping out others by using her magic-even though she's not really skilled, she shows great ammount of talent. Running into Baph and others, she offered her services to the demon, while catching the attention of Aluzak who saw great magical potential in the young female. She had no idea she was being followed though....
Tritus-young warrior hailing from the northern regions, Tritus aimed to becoming the greatest warrior there is-while he showed potential, he was quite impatient, not being able to stay long with any mentor he had. However, one day he was hired by Marga's father, who asked him to bring his daughter back-in return not only will he get paid, but the old dragon will also make sure the young warrior gets the best training money can offer. Finding Marga, Tritus was about to bring her back, until he met face-to-face with his idol and hero, Macren. Hearing about the group's situation, along with refusing to miss a chance to fight alongside his idol, Tritus decided to join them as well. While he's quite skilled with all kinds of weapons and knows a lot of combat styles, he appears to be an excellent sharpshooter, using crossbow to take down his enemies. His arrows are enchanted by the spell cast by Marga, which makes them capable of penetrating even the hardest armor. Despite being at odds with her at first, the two soon grow more attached to each other, making a formidable fighting duo.
More to come soon folks!

Re-reading, I can see what you mean in some cases. But mostly just background characters.
But it was a little bizarre that Goten apparently got a makeover so as not to be confused with Goku (when the series was ending and Goku went to find Uub), and he still had Goku's head and face shape. Gohan looks nothing like Goku once he hits age 7.
But read Bleach and see how, as time goes on, a lot of the faces seem to just mesh together into one generic blob. But Bleach isn't as guilty with that as Gantz is. Gantz's art has become really lazy, not only do the faces look awkward at certain points, but character's faces look the same, there's no real effort in the art and it's just drawn sloppily. It doesn't help that Oku doesn't even try to make the backgrounds and art not seem like one was copy/pasted over another.
Oh, and Yoshihiro Togashi's art in HunterxHunter was TERRIBLE for a good while, and yet he took breaks like nobody's business!
