Good day ladies and gents! It's been a long, long time in the dark, but I've finally put my current project out in the open in an attempt to get it up and moving. This will hopefully be the project that gets me up on my feet so I can make games full time.
It's called Townseed, and you can read more about it, as well as download the current build here - http://townseed.blogspot.com
I intend to begin an aggressive campaign to raise awareness of the project, but you guys have been (mostly) patient with me so I thought you all deserved to know about it first.
Additionally, if you want to see the state of the project's funding, you can do so here - http://8bitfunding.com/project_deta.....s.php?p_id=313
This is a simple flash movie showcasing a sprite set from the game. If you want to see him in action, go download the build!

Sounds like a good game is on the way! I'll be checking the 0.01 build and see how it goes...
AGAIN? I'm getting some error about XNA HiDef and having Acceleration set to Full. Last one is set already, but I don't understand the deal with the XNA thing. I had the same error trying to run Call of the Underworld.
Can somebeody help me? That's TWO games I am losing already!

If you get it to work, please let me know how! With Call of the Underworld, apparently it installed the XNA it needed, but it still gave me that message, and I even tried to download and install it again a year later!
At the very least I don't want to miss out in Cap G's game, I love this genre!

Um, maybe I should have said this sooner, but I Googled for that XNA HiDef thing and ended up with something that requires Windows 7
Windows XP Home with SP3
AMD Athlion 2650e
NVIDIA GeForce 6150E Integrated
1GB DDR2 Memoery
Will this, or that Call of the Underworld, work on my comp, or am I hopelessly doomed?

I sat here for about... an hour, waiting for this to download. (My connection speed is incredibly sucky) And I got all giddy when it finished.
Then I opened it and uh... I had to wait for something else to dowload. It kept on stopping after a few minutes, about 30 each time. So... I went out of my house at 3.30 am, climbed to the top of a hill where my connection was, thankfully, a lot better. And got it fully downloaded.
But it was worth it. I like the animation for it. Though I think my laptop is incapable of running it as everything runs quite slow. I even had to press onto a key REALLY hard to type on my name. But I like the customisation. I've never had a cartoon profile done before, so it was fun to create your own likeness in it.
I'm looking forward to seeing where this goes, and I hope by then I have a computer that runs it better. Keep it going GerBear. I don't know how many people will actually say this, but you're doing a real good thing :)
Urgh... I'm over tired.

Sure do. There is a certain way of coloring like in "Samurai Jack" (sorry that is the only example I have in mind at the moment) where the drawings do not use the usual black line...but just color. This sprite animation even though is not 100% color is kinda close what i'm interested. What I am asking is a tutorial in the coloring of the above sprite, or at least pointers about the way is colored. Specific enough? Yes/No/Retry?
Wow, pretty good early proof of concept. The world generator at least seems to be working well and character generator is pretty fleshed out. I did manage to get myself 'stuck' in a particular part of the map while playing around yesterday. I had warped myself into a mountain range while using the world map, which was surrounded by impassable cliffs, then when I went into local view to see if there was anything to see, I could never leave because I could never reach a normal 'passable' tile and was forever stuck exploring the vast, snowy waste of whatever peak I was on. Just something to look out for in future builds I guess.
I am looking forward to seeing more of this. It's the type of game I enjoy playing but you never see anymore.

Well, the other something else was quite popular, I won't deny that. But to be honest, I just look forward to anything you get done. Been enjoying all your flash games and animations for quite a while now. You make games feel like games. Not just a "click here, yay, you win" type of thing.
So, I'm just happy to see what you do, hurr.
Someday, I hope I could get as handy with flash as you are.

Holy jeez, every time I think you couldn't possibly get any more impressive, you go and find a way to prove me wrong. This project looks absolutely amazing. Incredibly ambitious, but I have a feeling if anyone can eventually pull it off, it'll be you. I would love to get in on the development-testing, so I guess I better start saving my pennies... :9 Whether I can manage that level or not, best of luck on the whole thing.
