This one reminded me of a broken mirror. India ink and water with a brush on ink paper.

Blob of ink and then I blow on it until I'm lightheaded. For some of them I use a straw or a hollowed out pen if I can't find a straw. For the really thick streaks I'll blob some ink and then tap the whole clip board (that I use to hold the paper and for a backing) on the table so a big drop runs down instead of it stringing out thinner like what blowing on it does.
For the layered effect with it I have to wait between blobs and blows (gad that sounds horrible) so it doesn't all just run together where they overlap. As for crisp outlines, its layering the ink wash and being careful with the brushes. I don't know if this was at all helpful but I hope it answered some stuff! :D

Isn't ink fun! I looooove working with it. The whole process lines up with what my brain thinks how making art should feel like. That's the best I can explain it. I still enjoy working with colored pencils and the results but it is just so much more tedious. With watery inks and a brush I feel free.
