This is a simple tutorial in drawing characters of different ages, with the explanation of what makes each age stage distinctive from the others. This is obviously showing a fairly common body type that is humanoid in proportions; even if you're drawing chubby or muscular or lanky, the basics are in here.

Both of these were great!
I don't say this often, but OMG both kids were ADORABLE! So many cheekpinches!
One interesting point which your text doesn't highlight is body language. Part of the cuteness of the two kids is that they are even posed like youngsters. It's awesome that you've also shown the subtleties (or sometimes not) of the ways sultriness, strength and confidence come with age, too.

It's common practice, though. Measuring the body in heads will make the difference between a short character and a tall one. Just look at photos of people standing, and measure out the heads. Grab some magazines, a ruler and a pen and measure the people out. Some basketball players are up to 9 heads tall, whereas really short people can be as few as 6 heads. You can figure out limb proportions from there as well. Once you do the exercise on those photos, you'll have a better grasp of the concept, I'm sure!
