Look upon a shining star
Where dreams are near and thoughts are far
For those who were and those who are
When glowing bright, that shining star

Now on your pillow rest your head
A dream a while, safe in your bed
Think of the souls the star has led
The hunger of knowledge that it has fed

Think with an imagination so bright
It lights up the darkest and deadest of nights
Like the star that shines forever its light
Upon a world with war and fight

But everything you have saw, everything you have seen
Can easily just be a wandering dream
And when you look up at the star with its gleam
Your dreams are lost to silence serene
