I guess I'm sort of shying away from the idea that I have to crusade for my opinions. A disagreement is a good opportunity to reflect on them, but what problem is it to me if someone else thinks differently?

Well it's not an issue of opinions usually. It's more of a "this seems like the best way to proceed, why wouldn't we do that?" kind of thing. If someone doesn't like forks or whatever, that's cool.
