A rabbit jar I made in my ceramics class back in 2009. I think this is my favorite piece. It was originally based on an Aztec pot I saw at the Field Museum back in March of that year, but it was more of a loose interpretation...especially since the reddish-dirt glaze I mixed turned out to be green. Oops.
Apparently the Aztecs used to make pots like these to hold their alcohol, and they had rabbits on them because they believed that there were as many rabbits in the world as there are types of drunkenness. I thought that was hilarious. Plus, rabbits.
