A series I made back in 2009 in ceramics. This piece, along with my "spirit deer" helped me win the "Excellence in Ceramics" award at my college for the end of the year art show. I was very honored.

I had a few sketches of black monkeys with skull masks, and different parts of their skeletons highlighted, and decided to make simplified sculptures based on those, with some colorful decorations to suggest a Dia de los Muertos theme. I thought it was neat to incorporate a small part of my heritage into my ceramics work.
