Been a while since I got to see a B-29 in person, let alone one that still flies. The only one I have see in person was the Enola Gay in the National Air and Space Museum many years ago. Always interesting when you get to see a piece of history.

On the really old radials, one of the reasons you pulled the prop through was to make sure the bottom cylinder wasn't full of oil - because liquid does not compress...

I had no idea there was only one flying B-29. Quite a bit of luck to have it show up at your job. She's a beauty, too.

hehe she used to fly into our airport all the time, hehe, loved listing to that big ol beast. Especially in slow flight.

I'm right there with you - I just stood out and listened to it.

On a side note - my step mother was an army nurse during the African Campaign and she told me she was dating the bombardier from the Enola Gay. One day he got orders and wasn't there any more.

Hehe sounds like that it would be fun listing to all the old stories your mother had. I always loved listing to my grampa's old stories when he was a sailor in the navy. No pilots in my family during ww2 but had one uncle that was an army ranger. Did the mission to free the prisoners in the Philippines. He was a cool guy. I used to know on of the pilots off a b-29. He was flying in the koren war though. Still was cool to talk with him.

They are cool to talk to - just a lot less of them now. My folks are all gone now...

Awwwww I'm sorry to hear that *hugs* yeah a lot less, that's kinda why I enjoy building models, it helps preserves some of the history. Hehe and I always get a kick when someone remember that airplane that I built.

FiFi, the only flying B-29. I saw FiFi inperson at the reading WW2 reinactment about 2 years ago and did that plane look beautiful. I would kill to be able to take a ride in it.
