looks like east of the sierra's, over toward nevada. i'm a wast slope person. yellow pine belt. but i've boonie crashed north of verdi (and other parts of the east slope) too.

probably looks like home to 'yotes and jack rabbits. no really ugly earth, except where humans have messed it up.
have to admit my trees and even blackberries and manzanita, ARE prettier then sage though.

almost has to be way south then. sure looks more like sage instead of manzanita, but i suppose it could be somewhere in the chapperelle belt. obviously i'll have to take your word for it.

nope..it's northern, this is right above lake Berryessa

i thought you said nowhere near the coast. i guess that's somewhat relative. not familiar with berryessa, but i seem to recall its WAAAY closer to the coast then i am. it's on the coast side of the valley, right?
