Ridiculously good-smelling dog biscuits made with cheddar cheese and bacon!
RECIPE
Ingredients
2 cups of grated cheddar cheese
2 rashers of GOOD QUALITY bacon (please please please do not use streaky bacon or smoked bacon! The fat and chemicals in these are bad for dogs!)
2-3 cups of flour (might need more or less)
1 cup of HOT water or enough water to reach a nice dough consistancy
1tsp of baking powder
2 cups of rolled oats
[i]optional[/]
1 cup of milled flax seeds
1 cup of grated carrot/celery
1 cup of cooked rice
You can add any supplements, like cod liver oil, if you would like as well. But try not to add to much extra ingredients as this can upset the dogs stomach
HOW TO BAKE!
-cook the bacon and cut into very small pieces. (I also trimmed off the fat)
-mix the flour, baking powder, oats, grated cheese, bacon bits and any additional dry ingredients into a bowl.
-gradually add the hot water until you have reached a nice dough that isn't too sticky. You should be able to hold it without it sticking. If it is too sticky add some more flour.
-Roll your dough out to whatever thickness you'd like and cut with cookie cutters or mould into shapes. Place the biscuits onto a baking tray lined with greaseproof paper. (I didn't grease the sheet but you can if you are worried about sticking.)
-Bake until golden or until you think they are ready. I like these biscuits very crunchy so I bake them a bit longer than I should but just keep an eye on them and bake them until you are happy with them!
Any questions on what additional ingredients you can use or anything else, feel free to ask me!
